Image Weasel bike, because the old one is too derivative (want to try and be safe). Hows it look?

The texture is identical, but Mr.D's texture isnt derivative, only his model- and it is derivative of the design of the unit, it contains no components of the original model.

Since the design is the only OTA IP based component, changing the design should put it in the clear. In the same way that while his original designs (tremor etc) have the Core logo on them, they are using OTA IP: When those designs are removed, they no longer have any association with OTA at all.

I am not a lawyer but since Mr.D's content is offered under an unrestricted liscence, any of his original content should be free- only where it uses OTA IP is it infringing.

With Atari planning to revive their TA - god knows how they ended up "owning" the IP and not Chris Taylor and the other guys who thought of it - I'm concerned they may crack down on all the OTA using Spring mods.

On the plus side this will create a lot of press for Spring. But let's hope at least CA has finished getting rid of all the licensed content by then...


edit: Blizzard squashed "Freecraft" (a GPL clone) just for having a similar name. Big man, destroying hobby projects like they make any difference to a multinational corporate. But then maybe they do - the bigger a company gets the more they lose that spark of passion they had when they were small: the original team leaves and they're left trying to replicate something they no longer intuitively understand.

is it possible to detect if an unit is under water and it will start a new animation via unitscript (e.g. amphi-tank)?

I was digging for free content and all i found was scantily clads babes so i defiantly put one in spring. Okay i promise ill stop wasting my time on this shit. Or maybe i should just do as some people have suggested and replace the bantha... :P

It's disturbing how you can do this sort of thing as a joke, and I can't work it out when I'm actually trying :shock:

:-) What would be cool is some system for auto-balancing units: then everyone could play with their own and you'd get -

"Whoa! WTF!?! He's attacking me with giant naked women!!?"

My dream is to make an RTS where you build your own units, like in Impossible Creature only better. Judging by Spore though you'd probably just end up with -

"Whoa! WTF!?! My whole army just got raped by a giant **** on legs!!!"

thats what im working atmo. its the crock, including underwater-mode. i think it a lil bit to wide, also i dont like the upside of the opening (maybe it will look better with some nice textures)

btw just 760 tris

@smoth - the trouble is, I can't just test something and see if it works: if I want the thing to fire for example, I need to set up a weapon definition, which includes explosion definitions and cegTags (whatever they are), weapons types and other databases as yet undefined. And each time I start trying to figure out how to fill one of these headers, my examples refer to even more files that I haven't yet set up: movement definitions, armour definitions, feature definitions - I feel like I'm going round in circles, that I'll have to build the entire mod before I can test anything, and if I do that there's likely to be a trillion bugs in my code, it won't run and I will have no idea why :shock:

But yeah, I'll get there, eventually...

edit: I'm off topic - I'll shut up now.

build 1 unit, with 1 weapon 1 move def etc. you have to build that crap anyway, think of it as your up front investment.

Looks good manolo, would be cool if there was some hidden propulsion system that unfolded when it went underwater, see Mr.D's remake for reference.
