New or used? If it's new they are guaranteed to work for some period of time, probably at least a year but I'd guess 2-3. NEC is the king of monitors, from what I understand.
I bought it brand New, for $350. Fuck u NEC, FUCK U.
Ever tried sending in those yellow pieces of paper labelled "warranty"? You'd have got a new monitor.

I've got 4 monitors here in my appt.. ALL work... they are well... different in many aspects..

I've got 1 14" compudyne its at least 16 years old.. max resolution of 640x480 :P it also has a busted cord and you gotta jiggle it to make the colors display correctly.. (I use it on my fileserver.. woo) but hey!! it still works! :o

1 15" wtf brand... (no label) that runs max 1600x1400... its not ooooo bad, but its old too, 10 years, and it has terrible issues with gamma... and the degausser is dead... oh well

the 14.5" monitor w/ my laptop 1400x1050 LCD... its pretty damn nice

and my 17" TFT 1400:1 contrast with a 2ms refresh!! its effin GORGEOUS! I use nowadays on my tower.. its 1280x1024

I use the TFT the most... sooo yeah 1280x1024

Because text is unreadable at that resolution. And you probably have to resize the minimap each game like in 800x600.

Actully, whilst having my problems, I tryed it in 640 x 480... HELL OF A LOT OF FUN. I kinda gives it that old school feel... even werider it actully looks more filmic If you turn teh AniA up (which you can at that res).

Caydr, true, but those tft viewable areas aren't 4/3, so it's ok.
you shouldnt use this 1280x1024 res on a non 4/3 viewable area monitor.
(assuming 1:1 pixelshape)

Actually, 1280x1024 is 5:4, 1280x960 is 4:3, though I'm not sure how popular that is with windows.

Also, I'd use 1680x1050, if I can get it working on Darwine with a 21' Intel iMac.
