Zero Tolerance FF Thread!!

My version O.o wrote: T1: T1 Fighters, a couple support fighters (radar/jammer?), Frigates/light Destroyers (light capship)
T2: T2 Fighters, a couple support corvettes (anti-missile? bigger radar/jammer?), Heavy Destroyers/cruisers (medium capship)

I should mention that I want to keep the tech levels, vehicles and ships true to the original.

It is a document that will help us balance everything. In the left column I want you to put every one of the old values.

Note there is a place for the factory worker time. Because of the way this sheet works you will need to insert columns and to put new values in. Anyway please put all FF values in the left columns for me. Starting with core then going to arm. Once that is done email it to me @ natrolite@hotmail.com

at the moment we are trying to decide on a unified art style the reason being is that the current look is inconsistent for both sides. So what I would like you to do is go over the 3 FF races. Core, arm and the new one. Find a few ships that you feel personify the look of either side and pm me their names.

From there I do not want you to remodel them, I just want you to take the old models and start modifying them to fit the new look. Keep two copies of the models in your wings file, the old and new so I can discuss the changes with you.

I do not have the time to do a design doc, then again it is not my intent to add things. I want to get FF working as it was in OTA but prettier. I am in the middle of 3 projects and it will take a lot of work to keep this group organized. However, I can see what I can do as far as a rough one but it will take a bit.

Once you get the units and weapons scaled down zip that up for me. At the moment we are going to redo the models and balance. An epic version is a bit premature. However, once the base project is done and IW is added we can create a mutator for the mod to allow epic battles.

I have been wanting to do this for some time and soon I may well get the go ahead to bring TA:IW to spring! Not only that but bring it in the FF mod as separate sides! making the mod's final side count 5 sides!

A soon as I get the ok, I will download the independence war and start converting it! Minion has volunteered to remodel the units also! So, keep up the good work guys this is going to be bigger then any other mod out there!

Thoughts on Econ: There are two ways of doing the econ:

OTA: where units have varying costs and buildtimes. Which can lead to a higher learning curve but will allow a fine tweaking of the resources

gundam: Where units will not excede a predescribed cost as in, all units in said factory will cost a certian amount. The only difference is time. I like this system because it makes learning the econ go faster.

before any balancing is done we need to decide on the econ.

Mutators
There will be 5 mutators we are going to do them in this order

BFF regular (Play as BFF)
IW Regular (Play as IW)

BFF + IW (Play as BFF or IW sides)

BFF epic (Play as BFFepic)
IW epic (Play as IWepic)
but the units are smaller make the maps that much larger

Now that all being said we need a name for this new mod.

The name needs to merge: Beyond Final frontier and Independence war... so toss some names out guys, lets see what we can come up with.

Seems good too me.

On Shields I have a question: If an enemy gets inside the shield, then will they be able to shoot at things? If so you could have a fighter strike force that can fly through the large 'anti-artillery' shield thing and destroy the shield ship. Or should there be lots of small, personal shields. Or both, for the different sides? Maybe the core can have the small shields (because they can , you know, afford them) and the arm have the large shields (Because they are cheaper or something...)

I ask only that you register with the same name as on this forum. I will ban anyone who smurfs. I want us to discuss this without the major flack that happens in this community. So those of you who are working on this project please join this private forum.

I will moderate it with heavy deletion of flame posts but I also feel some level of heated discussion is cool so I tend to let you guys burn on each other. This site is setup so you guys can tear at each other freely over balance. so get to posting.

I would prefer that we keep all of that to this site. So go forth and flame:

I personally prefer OTA economics to Gundam economics in the long run, though I agree that the latter is much easier to learn. Anyway, made a thread for this on the new forum as Economics is more than just unit construction and there are lots of facets to consider.

As I was on the IW team for time I have a few models and concepts - the Corporation race isn't finished don't forget

Calm down, first I will be getting version 1.0 from them. So The corporation could be finished. Either way that comes after we correct ff. I have not forgotten that the corporation is/was incomplete but we can add the complete side first then add the corporation afterwards.

Guessmyname feel free to add what thoughts you feel are relevant in the new forum. I have one for IW and one for FF.

This will be done (as smoth has already said) in steps. First we get FF where we want it. Then work on IW, then the combo, so on and so forth.

Anyway, any major points of contention you think need addressing post in smoths forum so we can get down to the nitty gritty.

Ill try to keep this up to date so that regular forumites will know whats going on, but having that second forum available is a great resource so let's use it to its full potential.

Finally, has anyone narrowed down what the hell breaks the early versions of FF in Spring? If we can nail that down we can start to make real balance progress.

The oringinal 2 sides (arm and core) will probbaly get balanced first, then either the first IW race will be addedd and balanced or the third FF race.

Balancing one side at a time will not be that hard!

please dont make any of the thrid race units playable at this moment. There is a good reason why i disabled them. I want to show them all at the same time and i m still missing some and the textures are bad.
Also i want to show my models in one of my versions first. Or would you like to see some of your gundam models in another mod before you was able to show them?
