Combomb in 1v1 has been default lose since I first played TA online in 1998.

If I remember correctly, there's a time limit that separates combomb from being a tie or a lose. Something like 16 min, I think - basically if you combomb before that time you lose, combomb after that time you tie. If you want to be more hardcore, just use com ends no draw - whichever com dies first loses, even if both are in blast range of each other, and whichever com dguns the other loses.

Depends, imo. If it's a long, drawn out game, and someone's clearly losing but the enemy can't find a way to kill him, then I guess a combomb deserves a tie because the loser is clearly able to hold his ground. The enemy is also too dumb not to put his com in a safer location (or doesn't have AA?) and doesn't know how to win faster.

In your post the same guy who is "clearly losing" is "clearly able to hold his ground". I think the two are mutually exclusive.

I think CB is a valid play in team games (optimally with kill all coms= ends) and a factor that competent players account for when positioning their own forces. I don't think it has any place in the 1v1 game at all.

Beating Basic is sweetest when you do it with AKs on CCR.

Sry pintle, I just meant that if someone is supposed to be winning, but just can't kill the other guy, and they leave their com unguarded / easy to cb, they're asking for it and deserve to have a tie if they can't kill a flying atlas / walking com.

It can't depend on any grey rules, with that you're just making way for stupid endless arguments. A combomb or dgun with last comm is always the same, loss.

The No Draw modoption should be the default for BA btw.

people losing make "excuses" because they are trying to understand where they lost. You as an opponent do make mistakes as well but often an enemy can be unaware of them. When all a person can see is themselves they only see where they fail. It is hard to understand why they might have failed in perspective to what you did until they watch the replay and that is because all the info they have is how they played immediately after a match.

so I think it is reasonable that they are initially looking at their own personal failings.

That being said, to be on topic of WINING a 1v1, I hate it. makes me feel bad, like I took advantage of another player, because that is what wining is. Both of you are trying your best, to win is to capitalize on the mistakes of the other player and take advantage of that. Probably why most of the highly competitive people here are so harsh on others is because they spend all their time looking for failings of other and how to make the most of that.

No, using the reasons/excuses discussed here is more about not trying to understand why they lost actually. If after a loss you just brush it off and think "it's just cause I'm tired", you don't need to think about how to improve your play, on top of being impolite.

Whether you find the reason for your loss in in-game or out of game things makes the difference.

I'm not disagreeing with No Draw, (I think I mentioned my support earlier) I just feel that sometimes combomb should result in tie like in some FFA games, which imo is just an extended 1v1 (except with large random factors, of course).

I think it is more fun to play a challenging 1v1 than it is to win a 1v1 in general.

Its not fun to play challenging 1v1s and keep losing all the time.
