Really vsync2? Where do you see this?
vsync is mine (its silent303's domain to be precise), but the server is mine.
btw: vsync.de is cancelled and will be deleted in some weeks. Please replace all download links from spring.vsync.de to files.springrts.de.

I did not mean that particular moment yesterday. I get low speeds since you set up the mirror. But if it matters, I just testet again and it is hovering around 250kB/s atm.

I'm not sure how thrilled I am about springfiles only being on one server. No offense to you JJ, but your server is quite unreliable from what I've seen and has been through a myriad of issues.

Why don't you provide a copy (and the database) to licho, so that a backup system can be immediately in place if it goes down again. Also, while you're fixing stuff, maek fix your rss feed catorizations plox (no way to subscribe to only maps or mods feeds, etc).

Moreover, why not take it another step... Don't allow downloads directly from springfiles. Offload it only to the mirrors. Keep a file listing on springfiles as a basis for the syncing, but only list mirrors as download locations.

Also, Licho, as far as I'm concerned, direct downloads from evolutionrts.info/maps via sd is perfectly fine.

AF, I might mention that my sites bear a large brunt of the traffic as well.

The only thing you accomplish is that new files aren't uploaded to your mirror since you change the ftp access credentials.

This was necessary as I gave you the password ages ago and forgot it, in order to re-enable apache listings I needed to set a new password. As I said, if you want it you just have to ask.

Second, Your statements are all lies.
I've never denied public access to your mirror and it is all in your hands.
You have never requested me to build an index for your mirror (why can't you do that yourself instead?).

I have done every time springfiles has gone down and a thread has been made. I also didnt make an index myself because:

• You had your own username and password, and were told you can do as you please as long as you don't get me in trouble
• The first thing you did was disable the listings, so why would I go and add my own?
• I did not want to interfere with any php code you had (although it seems you removed it a while ago)

Third, you don't know the underlying reason of the rows in that 2 year old ht-access file.

Aside from blocking iamacup and others trying to copy the mirror, what else could there be? I've not been notified of any attacks on my webhost, nor have dreamhost notified me of any, nor have you. The only demonstratable reason I have, which you have yet to dispute, is preventing rival file site hosts from leeching content. After all I have near limitless bandwidth.

Now something constructive. Today i'm coding the new mirror system. The current isnt very reliable and it isnt uploading new versions of files to mirrors. I also think that it is important to let people administrating their own mirror servers / add new ones at springfiles so the mirror system would be more dynamic with a greater quantity.
I also want to make the mirror system database feeded, regulary updated with a cron job instead of the current on-the-fly mirror file checking. I have no problems of making this mirror database publicly available is some way.

As for spring downloader, spring downloader is free to reference the raw files on show at jj.darkstars.co.uk, but my own file site uses php as a go between with extra security measures. Spring Downloader interferes with that. It also removes me from the loop. If I take down things or move them around, then that's spring downloader broken.

I would allow it on my own file site if the files themselves where publicly accessible, but in the past this has lead to exploits, and the deletion of all the content.

VBS, can you keep it also on current (vsync) domain? Deleting it will invalidate mirrors currently known by the system.
