Ok, you made a claim, that's fair enough, now for supporting evidence...AF wrote:Moving TA to a second site would not remove TA from the community.
Sounds Reasonable...AF wrote:Lets be realistic.
That's not necessary for removing TA related stuff to a second site.AF wrote:Would TA mod developers vanish from these forums? No...
Hmm, that's not related eitherAF wrote:Would TA content vanish from the lobby? No....
Why is this even relevent?AF wrote:Are players incapable of playing in more than one community? No....
You made a claim but provided no proof, I can't think of a good reason why strict moderation and clear policy couldn't get most of the TA related development and discussion on another site.
All your justifications are nonsense, there isn't any reason someone who plays a TA based game couldn't also come to these forums and discuss S44, the lobby doesn't control what games are played or what gets discussed and I don't even know what you're on about in that last bit.
I am personally for having a separate site for TA based games discussions and news.

So is AF, based on his post... Reading comprehension ftwDas Bruce wrote:I am personally for having a separate site for TA based games discussions and news.
I agree too, just needs someone to go and make that site
Re: TA is now available on Impulse
They should put ta with spring into same installation program. Everybody would be happy, spring would get publicity, and atari would sell their old crap.
Why not contact them and say : eh we can have a good stable version, with automatic upgrading without redownloading and reinstalling (example 0.8.1.2 instead of 0.8.1.1) for laters versions, and it could be done in few month. People without copy would be able to download spring still but they couldnt/shouldnt play ta based mod.
Spring can be sold no?
Idea of Atari and Spring community working together is only utopian?
Ok maybe I am too high

At all high is too high.
Re: TA is now available on Impulse
id shift all the *A stuff to another site and keep the site clean only for original content.
So if Atari comes C&Ding we can just cut off all affiliation with *A contemt.
+ id love to see the new mods thrive im tired of *A stuff :].

Re: TA is now available on Impulse
I mentioned them because they are the number one justifications AGAINST moving TA offsite, and I agree, they are utter nonsense and I find ti most frustrating that they're being used as arguements against.
They all center around a fea rof change, and that moving TA offsite will 'split up the community', which is just not true, and for which there si no evidence. Just look at TA Universe, its still going, the creation of satellite sites and rival sites didn't split up that community, nor did spring destroy it (although it came close by sapping all its bandwidth).

Re: TA is now available on Impulse
If you made a site for TA mods all ta content would moved there...

Looks like impulse is actually being cheaper than the atari website itself :S
..oh: and you don't get any expansions with this one here

Re: TA is now available on Impulse
Purely academically, how much harm would losing TA-centric discussion cause, I wonder? Looking at the overall discussion distribution, most of the stuff we talk about IMHO is Spring-oriented, not TA-oriented.
If we lost the BA/CA/SA forums it would only amount to a small percentage drop in overall activity.
Not saying I'm for or against it, I haven't put enough thought into it to say I think it would be a good move or bad. Something to think about though.

We wouldnt lose the TA discussion, if anything there would be MORE of it. On the new site that is.Caydr wrote:Purely academically, how much harm would losing TA-centric discussion cause, I wonder? Probably new site would mean more Ta spring players as well, since the new site would be more focused on the games and not on the engine which is really offputting and confusing for a new player.
Re: TA is now available on Impulse
getting only games of *A mods is really off putting to new players looking for a non *A rts experience.

To what part of the sentence do you agree?JohannesH wrote:Same goes for most games, including any spring gameMachete234 wrote:Chances are that OTA will die silently, seriously who wants to play this today?
Sure all games will die out slowly thats not a secret.
Do you mean who wants to play spring games?
-About 200 players right now.
Publishers are assholes they will not do reasonable things.triton wrote:

Anything like modding is seen as spoiling their game etc
Publishers nowadays are there to ruin games and the retards in front of their consoles still applaud.
(can somebody make a virus that only affects consoles pleaase, it should overheat all xboxes all over the world at the same time

It might sound reasonable to us but not to them and no I guess spring cant be sold and there shouldnt be something integrated that forbids you to play TA based mods unless you pay that would ruin everything.
They would like an exact copy of their game on the new engine and then they would be pissed that it has to compete with the mods.

Really, spring games should have their own sites.JohannesH wrote:Probably new site would mean more Ta spring players as well, since the new site would be more focused on the games and not on the engine which is really offputting and confusing for a new player.
Although actually many of them already do.

Re: TA is now available on Impulse
Spring GAMES do (almost all of them). But when you can't get even remotely fair time in the lobby, it's a little bit troublesome to get people to go to a different site.luckywaldo7 wrote:Really, spring games should have their own sites.JohannesH wrote:Probably new site would mean more Ta spring players as well, since the new site would be more focused on the games and not on the engine which is really offputting and confusing for a new player.

There are ways to essentially make spring your own engine, but unless you manage to generate a lot of hype, you'll have trouble getting enough people for games, not to mention people visiting your site. The evo site gets just under 1k unique hits per day, but I never hear anything from anyone who visits the site.
Re: TA is now available on Impulse
can I clarify that the lobby is not a site, and that moving TA to a new site, involves actual websites, and at no point in this thread have I mentioned moving TA off the lobby, nor was it a prominent discussion topic.
I did not take the meaning of the word site and use my omnipotent powers to change its meaning for the duration of this thread.
