Not likely, the main reson it worked here was cause the protoss player went for tech early, so he didn't have many zealots.Gota wrote:hehe
Wonder if this thing works vs champs.
Progamers will likely scout this and counter it, if they are toss they would probably spam zealots and use chrono booster on the gateways.
A good toss player might also try to block the landing zone of the CC by placing out pylons under it and then cancel them to regain the mineral once the CC moves around trying to land somewhere else only to have that location denied by another pylon.
This will buy time for a few more zealots to be warped in.
Terran players could try to spam supply depos in the same fashion as the toss would with pylos, and marines would be able to dmg the CC before it manages to land.
And the terran player could always lift his own CC or make it into a fortress himself as an last resort
But it is an instresting strategy, and it might work against some high level players, if they are trying to fast tech or fast expansion.
If you insist on using this strategy, try to limit it to toss players who build proxy with tech, or fast 2nd nexus.
Note that it won't work as well vs zerg since you can't land on the "creep", but you could try landing behind the mineral lines if there are enough room for it.
And a zerg could easily avoid this too by placing out a creep tumor with a queen.
Btw, where we going to start a Spring clan for StarCraft 2?
If we are, then it might be better if i do not post counter-strategies in a public thread... hm.
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Sounds like cool idea, i'm gonna buy that game.

Yeah, there was a grafical bug that made medium grafic settings look multiple times worse then low grafic settings on some computers.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:SCII can watch replays without a beta key or crack just by dragging repays onto the exe, so I checked it out
first impressions are pretty meh and it looks like anus on medium graphics
I think it will be fixed in the in the 0.3.0.14093 version.
They will also add an auto-detection option for that release.
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Still can't attack while moving?
Wow Blizzard.
Wow Blizzard.
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Thats a game feature and its a game feature i like, atleast in this gameseries.Hobo Joe wrote:Still can't attack while moving?

Im guessing you never played sc1?
If vultures could attack at the same time as they moved... then everyone would be playing terran, and no melee units would ever be used.
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Yes I have, but I'm not a fan of it, and that's one of the many reasons. Back in the day it was reasonable to not include it, but seriously, this is 2010, that should be a no-brainer feature. And obviously, overpowered things like that would have to be balanced accordingly.Soul wrote:Thats a game feature and its a game feature i like, atleast in this gameseries.Hobo Joe wrote:Still can't attack while moving?

Why? can you run and fire a gausrifle at the same time? Will you hit what you are aiming for if you do?Hobo Joe wrote:Yes I have, but I'm not a fan of it, and that's one of the many reasons. And half if not more of the micro would disapear, and micro is whats separates the progamers from the animals.
In Starcraft a progamer could take out the equivalent of a goliath with the equivalent of a flash if he put enough skill into it.

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
because the downloadable executable that doesn't require a beta key to install can play replays by default. The most of the SC2 community is disagreeing on weather or not it's even intended to be locked.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:they have already cracked it so you can watch replays without a beta key and they predict they can unlock the botmatch by tonight

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Well for starters that guest login crack wasn't solely meant for replays, it was a stepstone for further cracking, getting the GUI unlocked will makes things in the future easier.SwiftSpear wrote:because the downloadable executable that doesn't require a beta key to install can play replays by default. Secondly i rather watch replays through the guest login then just click and drag, since you will be able to se more detailed information of the replay before starting.
That makes it alot easier to pick the right replay when you have 200+ of them.

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
actually you can just set file assoisiation of replay with SCII exe and it works fine, and this *was* an intentional feature of the beta, which was easily downloadable legally even to those who did not have the key.
I realised this about ten minutes after making that post, and yeah, right now I think blizzard has won. the pirates wont crack it in time and all the pirates watching the replays are going to be intriuged into paying for the full product.

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
I don't think this ever was about cracking the full product, just the beta since alot equalminded was unwilling to wait untill the beta testing was over.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:actually you can just set file assoisiation of replay with SCII exe and it works fine, and this *was* an intentional feature of the beta, which was easily downloadable legally even to those who did not have the key.

I would say that most of those that are in the proccess of cracking this beta had every intention of buying the full product when it would be released.
Although i must say i wouldn't judge those who would try to crack the full product aswell, since the game will be divided in three parts most likely resulting in a total of $200 -> $250.
For the record, i will buy this game on release, Blizzard deserves atleast that.

No problem, my choice of words was intentionally jestingly and easy-going =D==Troy== wrote:Soul wrote: and micro is whats separates the progamers from the animals.

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
david kim beta replays (mostly)
KingHillBilly's Live stream (Really good player who plays SC 2 games streaming live about 5 hours a day)
day 9's daily livestream (also known as Sean Plot, brother of Nick Plot, runs at 7:05 most days. Really really in depth reviews of the game and high end demos)
(home base for the majority of SC2 media from the US, and tonnes of good stuff in the forums too)

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
You can do that in TA/BA easily if the goliath is auto targeting, although if it's being micro'd as well you're screwed.Soul wrote:

So what exactly is the problem with that? I think it keeps the skill ceiling very high while lessening the need for non-stop micro on all the units on the field. (stop-shoot-stop-shoot)
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
Yes theres micro whether you can shoot while moving or not. But its stupid to say that either system would be objectively better, they just make for different games.Hobo Joe wrote:You can do that in TA/BA easily if the goliath is auto targeting, although if it's being micro'd as well you're screwed.Soul wrote:

I dont think move-and-fire works that well anyway if you dont have the varying turnrates, acceleration rates and turret turn rates that TA has, otherwise it makes for pretty lame micro probably. And if youd implement that to SC2... Its more like TA than SC:BW then.
Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
I like how all the people arguing here about moving while shooting don't even realize that the Siege Tank in starcraft can move and shoot at same time.

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
You can make any unit almost move&fire with right micro, just limited by how long the firing animation is... Siege tank is nothing special

Re: Starcraft II beta is out!
unfortunately that kind of micro is sort of beyond anyone who even occasionally gets laid
