Its only chance is to move out from spring and for new players, it's best to have tweaked settings that best fit the mod.

Many spring defaults are just crazy... F3 to go to last alert? Space is default in games...

So I think its better to annoy slightly dozen of regulars who can rebind easily than to scare away potential new players.
Finally, damn, been saying this for a long time.

Spring is an engine centralized community, the projects who seek to grow must generate game centralized communities while retaining their connections with the engine community. Interdependence rather than dependence.

... yeah, spacebar for "last notification" would be nice. Wasn't spacebar also used for "deselect/cancel" in some games?

We removed this from CA a long time ago. SelfD explosion = destroyed explosion.

I agree F3 is the stupidest choice ever. I had actually remapped it to spacebar (like Starcraft) when I first got Spring. Unfortunately spacebar is the meta key and used for many different functions so I had to remap it to something else (I went to esc, then we used esc for menu so now it's on tab. May change this yet again eventually).

+1, but I get so many complaints from people it's hard to ignore whenever a non-CA Spring vet comes to CA and is confused by a certain change. We should find a solution that pleases them while creating our desired default for new potentials. That's why I like the text file in luaui/ approach. But like I always say, most important person to think of is the newbie.

Yes and in such case you can even switch it to that "left click to confirm" mode..
By the way this is implemented in latest test. Simply put:

* For pros: Hold alt, and make mouse gesture, release alt.
* For beginners: Tap alt - menu turns on. Left click to select unit. Right click to cancel menu.

I will add support to allow user to set a keybinding.
