Re: Register system suggestion
Anyway, i'm going to state this like i did in the other thread.
This is possibly the only reason i make smurfs, personally.
I make accounts to go up the rank ladder, because once you get to grey on gold star, the length between the ranks are just HUGE. Now, ive probably got the top rank and some, but it gets borining to have nothing short term to look forward, and that's what keeps most people going, is short term rewards
TL;DR I create a new account every time i reach yellow star rank because i enjoy going up the rank and wasting my time ingame for a reason.
If you take that away, i know ill lose something partially interesting and fun to do on spring.

Re: Register system suggestion
what about pergame props... like killed the most units, lost the least etc? do those satisfy or the fact you cannot show it off publicly outside of the game detract from their reward?
Re: Register system suggestion
As Tobi said in the other thread, disposable emails can be easily banned.TradeMark wrote:Just make C++ application which creates automatically new account when you get banned, using those random trashmails in the account...
I dont think anyone got banned 30 times here... maybe 5 max..
Anyways, if you're banned, you'll be banned by IP usually, not by email, so no.

real hackers can hack IP's tooJAZCASH wrote:As Tobi said in the other thread, disposable emails can be easily banned.TradeMark wrote:Just make C++ application which creates automatically new account when you get banned, using those random trashmails in the account...

what about e-penis which grows the more you play? would look cool. (and make the player list realy wide for pro pla... nolifers).smoth wrote:what about pergame props... like killed the most units, lost the least etc? do those satisfy or the fact you cannot show it off publicly outside of the game detract from their reward?
Re: Register system suggestion
If you're that worried about trashmails etc. require an OpenID authentication or something.

Re: Register system suggestion
honestly openID isn't a bad idea.
Re: Register system suggestion
if the email system bothers so many people
you could always put some delay on new accounts
and i havent seen this in a while but rank minimums on games works fine too

Re: Register system suggestion
Trade, stop coming up with smart counters which no one has ever really bothered to use and probably never will unless they have been perma banned.
If all the disposable emails are blocked then it would take a user maybe 1-2 minutes longer to register meaning there won't be as much bother.
Still it could be easy to register a new account and even possible to make macro or C++ app to register one for you, but some players aren't going to be bothered to put in that little bit more effort, just to make a new smurf.

Re: Register system suggestion
I personally as someone with many smurfs, would not make so many if at all if i had to use an email to verify my account.
Renaming accounts should also be limited to x number per x unit of time.
The ranks are a serious problem.
We need more ranks,we need them to calculate rank based on the general playing time along with individual mod play time,so if I'm a silver star but I haven't played a certain mod,I'll appear as a white star when I join a room hosting that mod.
And we do need achievements, but for that we need a profile system, with each player having his own profile page either lobby based or web based and linked from the lobby.

Re: Register system suggestion
profile page would be good in manner of balancing games.
those whose won the most would get higher rating etc.
also it should count how many times he made suicide etc...

Re: Register system suggestion
Profile system would be awesome.
Just thinking, if you wanted to forget about slowing down smurfs completely, you could make the email system optional so people who don't want to fill in their mail don't have to and people who want to, get the benefits of being updated with News via Email and "I lost my password" system.

Re: Register system suggestion
Spring goes web2.0: Everyone gets a profile page with friend lists, rating by other players (aka popularity contest), favourite unit etc.

Re: Register system suggestion
Some small awards would be awesome, just a little something to aim for to keep players playing.
Maybe have a stats page listing things like total units built, total games won, lost, metal, energy etc..

Re: Register system suggestion
When i say profile i just mean a place where all your "achievements" are displayed(you cant have them all be displayed near your nickname in the lobby...).Teutooni wrote:Spring goes web2.0: Everyone gets a profile page with friend lists, rating by other players (aka popularity contest), favourite unit etc.
It can also be a popup appearing near every nick you point at,which shows all the achievements of that specific player(and each player should choose if he wants to show them to others or not).
