I never understood what is so fun in babies, and why people are saying congrats for it? is birth really that good thing? another one to suffer in this world?<semi-joke>and why that makes us happy? are we some kind of sadists?</semi-joke>

Happiness has nothing to see with the world. You can make ourself very happy or very sad just with tough manipulation :)

Oh and people like to have kids because instincts say they should. Must stuff we do its because instinct tell us to...

The perpetual hope is for the next generation to turn out better then the last... at least for guys... for girls I think it's that biological imperative thing.

Never quite understood congratulations to the father... really it's the mum who did all the work.. like "congratulations for surviving"

It's not that simple, really. It's another human being- joy and suffering, love and hate, good and evil. Everything we are. Having children allows you, as the parent, a chance to give somebody a good childhood, among other things
