August 30th is the deadline for new packages in Ubuntu 7.10

Discuss the source code and development of Spring Engine in general from a technical point of view. Patches go here too.

So, a little clarification:

The 30th is the deadline for new packages. Minor bugfixes and fixes to the package itself can go in right up until the release candidate in October. What's not allowed are new major versions. So, call it SpringLobby 1.0, but if you patch it in the next month don't call it 2.0, call it 1.0.1 ;) Just don't introduce new features with a potential for breaking things - the idea is to have a polished product.

If the kernelpanic AI doesn't work, then I guess I shouldn't include it. Still, we can have a spring-ai package at some point (with all working, updated AIs).

Nice, no real rush then :-)

Edit: Singleplayer works now, but there are still things to tweak :-)

I was sorta wondering if I couldn't include that file in the zipped version of KP... though I should probably just try Linux and get a clue.
+1
Burn this to a cd and boot from it.
It's the Ubuntu life-cd nothing gets written to you hdd (only if you follow the installation procedure - it's the "install" icon on the desktop) so you can use the reposetory to download and install applications safely. Reboot without the cd and feel enlightened. :-)

That's actually great news, separate from the question if it makes the new Ubuntu release or not. :-)

I'm not 100% sure this will work. If you've got anything other than an Intel card you may need proprietary drivers installed to get OpenGL working. That requires a reboot, with the fun catch 22 of any changes you made like downloading and installing that driver disappearing since the LiveCD uses a RAM disk and has no persistent storage. There apparently was a way to use a USB flash drive as storage for the LiveCD so you could make real changes like installing drivers or applications, but from what I've heard it is broken in 7.04, but may work in 6.10 or the new 7.10 beta.

I'd love to be told I'm wrong since I'm interesting in trying this if I can actually make persistent changes without having to touch my HD. A LiveCD is pretty worthless to me without being able to install proprietary NVidia drivers for my video card, and Compiz Fusion and a few other apps to play around with.

I think, you can load up nvidia drivers, by just reloading xwindows (ctrl alt backspace).

I did not expect zwzsg to play Spring with it, it's just to try out the reposetory system so he can understand where we Linux users talk about.

I'm all for their own repository.
For me, it would be the best solution.

It seem that it will not be for Gutsy. But that's not so bad : providing deb package wich install everythings is already quite good !
IS there any package for Gutsy ? It seem that boost have been updated and Feisty package is not working on gutsy.

Sorry about disappearing off the face of the earth everyone.

Long story short: The deadline was about 30 hours earlier than I thought it was, and I missed it. Then I moved and didn't get internet back until today.

Either way, we'll set up our own APT repository.
