When you do get it, remember to find the optimal OC speed and save it there.
I did for my 6600GT and my speed is up 2~5 fps. Not a big leap, but there is NO danger involved whatsoever.

I'd recommend against it. Basically, as far as video cards go, generally speaking you get better worth out of your money if you buy something new in the equal pricerange. So while 1 year ago the 6800 might have been an awesome card at $400, it may seem a bargain that it is now only $150 for such a good card, but the reality is that if you find the $150 range card in either the 7XXX or better yet the 8XXX series, you will acctually be getting alot more for your money in terms of performance. Even though the X#XX digit will be lower.gamer17 wrote:I still might get the 6800 so I can play Vegas and GRAW

With stock performance you're probably better off buying a 7600GT. However, since 6800 XE AGPs can be unlocked, buying this and unlocking/over clocking would yield a pretty nice deal.SwiftSpear wrote:I know the 6800 XE is the weakest card in the 6800 series... I remember it reviewed really poorly back when it was new... But I can't find an up to date benchmark comparing that model to comparative cards in it's current day price range... so it's hard to give an objective analysis on that one.
ok, I just I'll just have to upgrade to PCI-e thenREVENGE wrote:WAIT. I take that back. I didn't realize the XE is a 128 bit part. Avoid buying it if you can and look for a 6800 level card that is at least 256 bit. This limitation in memory bandwidth changes the game and I suspect this card can't catch up with the 7600 series.
