Imo 90% of the time, 50% the cost of a kroggy in a well handled t2 assault will be devastating to the guy who has half a kroggy. The unit is by no means useless, especially on big team games, but is a definite case of "all your eggs in one basket" which is quite opposed to my game play style (arm t2 bots mostly, small fireteams mid/early game).KDR_11k wrote:So what you're saying is that an experienced player would probably opt not to use one then?pintle wrote:neddiedrow wrote:Building super units is sometimes an admission of inability in itself.
Maintaining a worthy economy and an aggressive battlefield presence whilst simultaneously making a krog is a skill in itself.
Using support units in an effective way and preventing hilarious dgunning of said krog is not as simple as some people make out.
Keeping the gantry hidden and keeping bombers off it is also a problem.
Krog is lethal, but unweildy and slow, and a magnet for the dgun.
In general it seems that it is hard for rts games to balance the final end tech tree uber units. They either become very expensive albatrosses/vanity pieces, or the game becomes rush to krog/bloodthirster/siege cannon (HW:C ftw
