You are so fucking right xD

And its not at all "Copy & Paste" texturing o.O but i like to do all stuff in the same "style" so it doesnt look like current CA = Color Anthem .

Not that i dislike CA but it just reminds on something evil ....
(world of warcraft).....

Mr.Lemmi, your units would be better off in an original game than an *A one, precisely because you can put this on your CV but you cant put an *A mod on your CV at all. you would also earn a lot more respect and help from the forum goers too

i dont see the point in retexturing models made in 1997 when it takes you very little effort to make something which looks way nicer aswell as gets rid of legality problems. And models with missing pieces cause of OTA's top down view will look ugly regardless :p

Too dark. Use more contrast, and avoid true black. Most of that will just look like dark blobs at a distance. That last thing will just look like dark little geometric shapes with vague blue areas.

And use preshading- lighten upper surfaces more. You're doing a great job getting the basics right, but if you don't light things right, it'll look pretty bad in-game- just dark things with some glowing bits. Sorry, I know that probably sounds harsh- but details alone won't get you where you want to go. Preshading is really easy- if you want me to take one of these and show you, send me the model and the skin.

And the crowd is right, for once. OTA models that you didn't make, reskinned, are probably violating copyright, although that certainly gets somewhere into the gray area. Can't blame you for wanting to try, though. Good luck with your work :-)

not to mention that the point of redoing something like the arm solar is to remove the distortion caused by non-square faces, not to just add a different distortion onto them

I like that design and texture.

One way to make the engines feel a bit more alive is to introduce a gradiant to the diffuse texture (usually colour->near white), but also to put residual glows on surfaces such as the engine encasing. This fakes both bounced light as well as bloom. You can kinda sorta see it here and here.
