Sweet merciful flowerpots, Batman! It's a Random WIP in the Random WIP thread!

And now to commit ritual suicide and sell my soul to Satan to unwrap it! Yay, I love the modding business!

That's supposed to go in the PURE thread, not the random WIP thread! :P

lol nice job, it looks awesome. How are you gonna animate that gun-thingy on the arm sticking out of its head? another suicide ritual?

It's not for PURE, I left the team a while ago. As for the gun, probably some remodelling of that area gonna be involved... tomorrow, after sleepy time and ritual preparations.

As for animations, I know there's a why to animate things in 3dsmax (pieces only, obviously with no interpolation curves fiddlery) and then transfer that to bos script. It's been done before, just need to work out how...

Also: I never knew you were once part of the pure team! another bit of information filed in the "random Spring history" part of my brain :-)

Hahaha! The overlord mech was by me! Argh says so every time he posts up a unit I modelled!

Though my version had actual (and fully articulated) hands rather than break-off gun things.

love it GMN, your units these days are always full of character.

If I have one criticism, I'd say the forearms/hands seem a little rushed and unrelated to the design itself.

I like the shoulder pads but I also think they could use a little more attention / detail

looking awesome, nothing wrong with arms, they're used for balance

you don't have to coat a model with guns and crap, it is perfectly acceptable to have arms moving when it is running. They serve as part of a running humanoid's balance. It looks like a very agile unit, the only thing I dislike are the knees, otherwise I think it is a solid design.

Personally I find mechs with gun arms MORE awkward looking.

I know. I'm considering capping them off, but that might make animation awkward (it's less obvious that the 'knee' is socket-based and flexible)

And the arms are for balance

And it's based off a concept I really liked on deviantart *hangs head in shame*. Everything from the waist up was not really designed by me; I just modelled it.

Dunno, the arms look a bit strange with their round-y design when the main body is more boxy...

Possibly the knees, otherwise I'm loving it, Id love a whole mod of units that look more like this. P.U.R.E isn't quite there and goes after a different aesthetic of slow moving things and a style that reminds me more of 1980's computer terminals and cameras rather than ruthlessly efficient violent machines.
