Stop that. Neddie have you tried it? Have you tried watching any of the tournies?
Re: Starcraft 2
It doesn't have zoom. Therefore it sucks.
ok ok there are a lot of other reasons but it's still a very dull rts

Re: Starcraft 2
Its really a 2D game with an overpowered engine, you cant deny that.
You can zoom in a little bit but nobody does that.
But I'd say its worth the money because you can play a game around the clock and blizzard has a good support with patches.

Re: Starcraft 2
Yeah game is way too heavy for what it essentially delivers but imo this entire game including the new battlenet is on a lower level than earlier releases of blizzard.
I mean for a shitty unzoomable rts with a few dozen units running around ... it doesnt run smooth on my machine with an ati 4850 and 2 cores...
Freaking supcom runs smooth (unless its uber giga battle) and that's with thousand of units sometimes.

Re: Starcraft 2
On the othe rhand it runs good on really crappy pc's with everything on low.
I have a dual core as 2nd pc and an ancient ati card and it runs.

Re: Starcraft 2
I'm about 15 missions into the campaign, thinking it's got some interesting improvements on the old formula, varied mission objectives, etc... then I try Skirmish. It's the exact same game as SC1, except unit A switched for unit B at random, most of the new and revamped units from the campaign are just gone entirely, etc.
Because of the newer graphical style units and structures are much more difficult to tell apart at a glance, especially with the Zerg. One structure looks the same as another, and there's a dozen things you need to build to unlock most of your land units... it's like they just felt the need to pad the unit (structure) count to justify the price.
SC's single player was basically an introduction to the multiplayer, with an interesting story tacked on. SC2's single player is its own entity, and bears no resemblance whatsoever to the multiplayer. Virtually all the cool stuff you see doesn't actually exist outside of the campaign. To add piss to vinegar, you just know they've only done this so they can add them back in the future expansions for AMAZING VALUE!!!1
Seriously, no firebats? No goliaths? And instead we get a heavy-duty marine whose only role is to be more effective against "armored" units, which have only been introduced so that you need something to be good against them? And the micromanagement... so much micromanagement. Wraiths are now transformers, but can only shoot at ground units while on the ground, and air units while in the air. Why not allow them to do bot... Ah, that's either a goliath or a wraith, both have been removed so that things are moar differenterr.
Rather than attack with just marines, you must attack with marines and "heavy marines", just in case you encounter armored units. Which means that your opponent must defend with both "regular" defenses and "armored" defenses, in case you have both. There's no reason to specialize in one or the other, since to do so has a 50% chance of being suicide. In other words, you must now build two units instead of just one. WOOT MOAR STRATEGY!!!
"Uhh... how about if... um.... medics fly?"
"THAT'S GOLD, JOHNSON! GOLD!"
"And let's eliminate regular medics altogether!"
"YOU'RE ON A ROLL! GET THIS MAN A RAISE AND A TROPHY WIFE!!!"
Suck my ass, Blizzard. I could puke up a more interesting game than this. (then leave it in a perpetual half-finished limbo)

Re: Starcraft 2
For someone who has played the single player for only 15 minutes, and obviously (assumed from your statements) has had a similar amount of time with the multiplayer, you have very strong opinions.
Re: Starcraft 2
randy, think of who you are responding to, I would not give it much credence.

Actually, hate to burst your bubble (who the fuck am I kidding? I could give 2 shits about your bubble), there is zoom in sc2.
Re: Starcraft 2
my bad, I still think you are ill informed about the multiplayer.
Re: Starcraft 2
YEAH MAN YOU CAN ZOOM IN ITS SUPER USEFULForboding Angel wrote:Actually, hate to burst your bubble (who the fuck am I kidding? I could give 2 shits about your bubble), there is zoom in sc2.

It boggles my mind that people are still saying this. It's not zoom. Seriously.
Re: Starcraft 2
sad thing is, its basically zoom IN, not zoom out. You cannot zoom a significant amount away from the default view. Love the game, enjoy watching it and playing it, but man does the zoom piss me off.Forboding Angel wrote:Actually, hate to burst your bubble (who the fuck am I kidding? Re: Starcraft 2
I remember reading that the engine is capable of zooming out, but they decided it would damage gameplay and unit recognition

Re: Starcraft 2
It is. Many of the custom games have much more zoomed out views.1v0ry_k1ng wrote:I remember reading that the engine is capable of zooming out, but they decided it would damage gameplay and unit recognition
And @ the rest of you, you said zoom. It has zoom. Maybe if you mean zoom OUT you should specify OUT

Also, get the fuck over it. It is a different rts game. If all you can handle is playing games that have the features that spring games have, why are you even looking elsewhere? Slap yourself, you're an idiot.
