I have a question on how people think the shields ought to work...
option 1: block energy weapons only (plasma, laser, ion, lightning..etc)
option 2: block all weapons
option 3: have several types ie energy shields and kinetic shields to choose from
nm they will block all weapons.. there is no way around that..

URC has numerous rocket and artillery units. I usually mix in rockets with my plasma troops. Anti-plasma defenses make sense to me, provided that a corresponding GD weapon is blocked as well.krogothe wrote:2: plasma is the main URC weapons so theyre fucked vs shields, while gd can waltz in with their cannons
but after reviewing the options, I prefer 2. I'm not fond of "weapon-specific armour". It's distracting.

As I currently see the energy weapons:
URC - Plasma&Fire
GD - Lasers&Ion
NI - Sonic&Lightning
so the shields would block enemy weapons... ie
URC - Lasers, Ion, Sonic, Lightning
GD - Plasma, Fire, Sonic, Lighning
NI - Plasma, Fire, Laser, Ion
but URC has no light cannon mech, and GD has both of their specialties
