Unless, you know, you destroy it with a quick air raid with some bombers or advanced bombers.

Or take advantage of all the resources he's spent on the Bertha to smash through his defences.

Or...

Reducing bertha range is a possibility. On many maps they'd still be able to fire pretty much anywhere if they're built in the middle, even with a reduction.

I don't think that the shields going missing would actually damage gameplay that much, if at all. OTA players got along just fine without them, and so did we until the repulsors were invented.

Hey I got an idea, Get rid of Bertha's and Vulcans, no need for shields.

And you reduce the unit count down by 6

Me thinks berthas pwn to much on flat maps in current AA. That is all Im saying regarding that subject.
Also, why do samsons and slashers attack ground? Arent they supposed to be anti air?

Nice DS cadyr.

And no, i don't think berthas pwn to much. They take a MASSIVE time to kill something, and it's only if it's unprotected and big. Such as when i fougth Angel and some other dude on with noize on centerock. I had built 2 berthas in my base who reached angels frontline and started firing on her moho geo. Took ages, but i think i got it down due to the fact i did a bombing run earlier. To bad she had moved her com when it exploded. :/

Also, this is the game i lost to brawler swarms despite having multiple flakkers and 1 long range MT.

Plus, you need lots of flak to protect it, which you should have before you first fire it. 10 gunships are more than enough to destroy a bertha, even with some flak protection.

remove shields or get back repulsor . I LOVED to suck repuslors dry with some pewes or gunships.

And yes, BB's are not overpowered. If i decide for them i build 5+ so they can actually kill some stuff. Just get some cons planes on patrol over base if lonely BB is fireing at you.

Keep the shield or switch it back for the reflector but don't remove it.

I've never cared for the shield:

1. it looks messy graphically - people usually stack them over each other so when one fails the other will still protect, it looks like a big mass of bubbles.

2. it's too porcy, and berthas take a long time to kill stuff as people have mentioned.

I could see a reduction in bertha range as having potential. As it is now you have toasters/ambushers, which I consider a medium range plasma, and berthas, which I consider an extreme range plasma.

And that could give Vulcans a role - rapid fire and longer range, but really expensive.

A range reduction on berthas also allows for a muzzle-velocity reduction as well. That would allow for a higher (though still LT) firing arc, which would mean that Berthas would be a little more useful on Springs much-more-landscaped maps.
