I'd like to see 8 crates, all on one 512 texture, please. Make them six-sided. If you can swing that, I will definitely put it into World Builder, it'd be nice for, say, a procedural area in a shipping yard, or a map set in the ruins of a giant warehouse, etc.6 poly version (256 map), looks just like the high poly oneif anyone want to use it but dont likes the logo, I can change it if you want to.

I will be modeling out a bunch of warehouses and shit for a dock map that I need to make. What would be the deadline for the resources and are you going with the currently established scale or s44/iw-ish scale?

fire crate to stop the whining about "LOL BIOHAZARD IN WOODEN CRATE" stuff

What kind of crates? diffrent logo's, or diffrent color, entirely diffrent?Argh wrote:I'd like to see 8 crates, all on one 512 texture, please. Make them six-sided. Re: Random WIP
Anything you want, difference-wise. Maybe 3 that are twice as long / tall as they are wide, for a little variety? Not feeling uber-picky about it, I just think that having procedural piles o' crates to stick on maps and blow up would be cool. I'd like to see some variation in color that you can see at a distance, but you can keep them all wooden- maybe just use some more bleached-looking wood for some, etc. Nothing major, and they don't have to be super-spiffy, as they'll be quite small on-screen anyhow.

Re: Random WIP
Ok, how am I going to put diffrent models on one uv? duplicate, change, uv, export as?
Re: Random WIP
was in Seattle for 6 days. I really liked those giant piles of crates.. think like in the beginning of war of the worlds. Large train car sized crates and huge cranes with a enormous ships. Past that yep, I was going to do several of the long storage buildings, some of them as sections for destruction.

There you go

Re: Random WIP
If you're talking to me, they will be done soon, 1-2 days i guess.smoth wrote:I will be modeling out a bunch of warehouses and shit for a dock map that I need to make. What would be the deadline for the resources and are you going with the currently established scale or s44/iw-ish scale?
Re: Random WIP
It's just like painting a model with multiple parts, pretty much. You just treat each crate like it's the arm/leg/whatever of your "unit", in this case, and unwrap each one, like you would for any unit.Ok, how am I going to put diffrent models on one uv? duplicate, change, uv, export as?

Re: Random WIP
So much for the age of communication...
I'm working on parts for a fuel-dump style affair, with storage tanks and barrels and snazz like that.

Re: Random WIP
Oh yea, cos they're much more likely to keep FIRE in a wooden crate :DHoi wrote: fire crate to stop the whining about "LOL BIOHAZARD IN WOODEN CRATE" stuff![]()
Maybe Spring could go in a wooden crate. Spring is classy like that.
P.S. all the logos look wicked.
Re: Random WIP
Meh, communication's for people who, uh, actually want to understand each other. Meh, if nobody communicates, but I suddenly see a pile of things that can be used in World Builder, I ain't complaining...
Oh, just FYI, Smoth... everything can be a Unit, so moving parts are par for the course. Just try not to make me hurt myself scripting it

that makes me feel liek modeling a razor blade ^_^ (srsly, I'm kidding)Argh wrote:Just try not to make me hurt myself scripting it
Re: Random WIP
honestly argh, I figured they could just be plain buildings. I will see what I can do but no promises. Anyway, I am playing some gundam tonight, after tonight I start work on a gundam specific map. IF you want the features after the map is complete I will not be offended if you need to modify them. I will give you the wings/psd file if it helps you make better use of them.
Re: Random WIP
Ah, so you hide everything exept the crate you want in the script?Argh wrote: It's just like painting a model with multiple parts, pretty much. You just treat each crate like it's the arm/leg/whatever of your "unit", in this case, and unwrap each one, like you would for any unit.

Re: Random WIP
Or you can just have multiple models referencing the same texture file. IIRC S44 stick all of their infantry on one big texture - which is probably a pretty clever way to go about it, and something I'd have done for IW if I'd thought of it earlier (too much work to go back).
Re: Random WIP
No fire in wooden crates, but in games (fps) usually there are fire crates that explode if you shoot them.Crayfish wrote:Oh yea, cos they're much more likely to keep FIRE in a wooden crate :DHoi wrote: fire crate to stop the whining about "LOL BIOHAZARD IN WOODEN CRATE" stuff![]()

@Argh do you care what method I use? i'd prefer multiple models.
