I believe my laptop with the Geforce Go 7600 has done that.

My point was to convice you to use nVidia, no matter what's better. Well actually I believe nVidia's better, at least their drivers are more mature.

Meh, I am indifferent about which I think is better... I think nVidia is better, but something good and cheap is always a good buy...

Thanks anyways.
I kinda wanted to practice OCing cause my next idea for an upgrade is a Pentium D 805 2.66ghz, for those of you who dont know, those are the absolute kings of overclocking. Up to 3.8ghz on air alone, 4.1 stable, and reported to go past 4.3. Problably more. Apparently when they are overclocked to 4.1ghz their performace comes close to a $600 CPU, for like $150, UNDER $100 if your in the US.
Ill get a link to a Toms Hardware article on it if you want, its like 50 pages, but you only need to read the first few.

PS: Spend a few extra dollars to get an ASUS board. Trust me, it will be worth it, especially if your an overclocker.
I've got one of those. I can get it to 3.2 on the stock cooling, no problem :D just started overclocking it again, as winter is setting in again.

never been a fan of overclockin my videocard... its usually more $$ than the CPU+MoBo...

and breaks/overheats easier...

good luck not killin it, but if you can make it work, more power to you..

edit:

went and stress tested my machine's VPU.... lol... you don't wanna hear the speed it reccomends.. lets just say its WAY over 500 mhz... :P

What kind of temperature would be considered 'running cool'.

Heres what asusprobe says my AMD XP 2400+ is running at

PS: Are those power-supply stats normal?

-1200 Kelvin. :P

I'd say that's ok, should be around 40°C to 50°C. My thunderbird (which does get quite hot) reaches ~50-60°C on 100% CPU load, up to 70°C in summer and up to 85°C if I don't clean it regularly.

my cpu will never get over 52C (water cooling rules)

with the amout I've over-volted it, I REFUSE to let the temperate rise.

the case temps, run between 44-52C (due to radiated heat from videcard and ram)

However, the videocard, runs 55 C w/o Load, and >65C (72C max) under load.

the System ram, idles around 45C under load it can hit 75C

but yeah, nothing on the system gets over the mid 70's. ever.

the VPU though... (I got balls enough to overclock it, hard.. its got a core VPU clock of 591mhz right now. I pushed it over 600 but I had quite alot of artifacts.. so 591 is good enough for me  )

Prescott P4 HT, LGA 775 3.4 GHz
16KB L1 Cache & 2MB L2 Cache
800 MHz FSB 200x4 multiplier 17 (stepping 3)

(overclocked to 259x4 FSB CPU @ 259*17 = 4403 MHz 4.4 GHz)

No, because its retarded.
I mean, what kinda heat sensor would have to be stuck on with adhesive TAPE? Glue+heat= :( .
And that front panel tempurature sensor seemed so cool at the time...
