Smoth sorry to hear that your leaving. I have enjoyed your work not just in gundam, but your answers to peoples questions in the forums. Unfortunately when you create something there will always be people who will piss on it just because it is there. This is not something unique to spring or even games it's everywhere. I think that it's part of some universal balance, those who cannot create seek to destroy to make up for their inadaquecies. I know it's frustrating but you can either roll with the punches or give up. I hope you'll change your mind as you are one of the few here who offers ORIGINAL content. Anyway just my 2 cents.

Tbh i don't see why everyone is drawn in by this, hes done this sort of thing before, a few months ago when he "banned" himself from spring. why? Go find the thread, i cba to go rummage for it right now, but again it was full of ametuer dramatics, and the thing that pissed me off about it, like this time, is the hyporicy of it. He claims the community needs more tolerence and needs to be more supportive of each other etc, but i think he is perhaps the single most intolerant i can think of in spring.
Try having a look at map threads and you'll see what i mean. People creating their first maps, having no experiance in the field getting savaged just for trying. I know its not just him that does this, and i know there is alot of contructive criticism too, but its really uncalled for... and god help anyone who disagrees with a point hes trying to make..
And AA fanboys? He is obviously bitter that his mod isnt played much, which is understandable, given how long its taken to create. But you can't force people to play something they dont wan / like. I love AA, it's by far and away my favourite mod, and i try others, but i just prefer AA. According to smot and others, im some sort of pond scum because of this.
If he were to try harder when communicating on the forums, avoiding flaming people for reletively minor reasons and just generaly acting in a moe geneial manner then none of this would be an issue.
The way he is now, i couldn't care less if he goes or stays, but if he was just to act in a more gentel manner, then i'd almost certainly have a diffrent view.
I know there are plenty of people who act like wankers on these forums, and i don't care for them either, but im pretty sure they don't expect people to love them for it.

With AA fanboys I think he means the growing nubmer of people who find simple mod systems harder than the complex beast that is AA. The sort of people who would complain that they wotn play a pacman mod because it's too hard and they'd prefer to use AA, then go intot eh forusm or #main and complain that AA doesnt have things, being totally oblivious to the fact the pacman mod has it (there si no pacman mod just using it as an example).

Like the speedmetal players who play ti for mech slugfests quickly but dont realize that there are a handful of tactics that will win speedmetal very quickly and with little effort, that doesnt invovle marching a horde of krogoths sumos goliaths bulldogs and swarms of aircraft across the map and refuse to acknowldge the existence of the tactics.
The fact AA is played so much is locking other mdos out fo the spring community and as a result is disheartening. Afterall you dont wanna see that your mdo you worked os hard on isnt being played much because the userbase is scared to try new mods and insists on sticking to AA, and those that do never find anyoen to play with...

I understand what you're saying, you're right a large chunck of the AA players can be ignored etc. But there are also a hell of a lot of decent players who have done nothing wrong other than playing their favourtie mod. you cant make people play osmething they dont want to, and you can't vilify them becuase of it :/

Well i know how you feel, min3man for one has pretty strong opinions and not the kindest way of coming forward with them. But you know what? i dont care about the *** he posts in my AAR topic, i leave that *** alone with his opinion, and continue doing what i think is important and i know atleast some others want to be done.
