Star trek sucks.

I don't like Star Trek either because te series is totally illogical. I just watched one episode (presumably from the new series, with the actor who played Dr. Xavier in X-men being the captain) and some clips on Youtube, and was totally disappointed. The ground battles were horrible. People just stood straight on open ground, no supressing fire, no one seeking cover, destined to be shot. And the space battle between "warships" are like WWII dogfights in slow motion.
As I am an engineering student, I would also like to comment on the design of the "warships". All I can say is, "what in the universe is this?" The two engine pods are loosely attached to the hull by two weak, slender struts. The are prone to lose the engines 3 seconds into the battle. And the disc shaped hull which looks just like a dartboard from above or below is screaming "hit me!" And while the hand-held phasers can make enemies disappear, ship-mounted phasers cannot make enemy ships disappear in the same manner. In my impression, ST ships are more like cruisers. I mean, luxury cruisers, the ones with swimming pools, tennis courts and casinoes on them.

I like Star Trek, it inspired such inventions such as the ipod and the cellphone o_O..
The only thing i Hate about it is that they are all retards at fighting except maybe the klingonssss
Holy shit, your ship and crew are attacked like every episode!! GET A BIGGER GUN. ' Lolz d00ds, uese yur phaesrs! '. Honestly, you think after like 200 years of exploration being constantly attacked and borded you think everyone would have a bigger more effective gun. Sure every ship had a 'security' team, but thats what..like a dozen guys with phaser-esque rifles..I really think they should have waayy tighter security and everyone needs to carry better guns...

Star treck has always been one of my least favorite universes... and I grew up on Deep Space Nine and Voyager. And yeah, seriously, if you are so far in the future you have all this wicked technology, why does everyone walk around alien planets in PLAIN CLOTHES with LITTLE TINY GUNS. Where's your friggin TANK!?! Or at least some body armor. Sure, I get that the shuttles are like awesome flying minivans, great for exploration... but I would still think they would have something a little more ground-combat-worthy.
Also, if Borg can be killed with projectile weapons, why does no soldier on the ship come with a projectile weapon in his standard equiptment?
Why no rail guns on the ships?
Photon torpedos are pro, though.

Schlock Mercenary > Star Trek.
Rules in Schlock Mercenary aren't of the "No messing with alien cultures" type, they're of the "There is no overkill, there's only open fire and time to reload" type.[/url]

I have to admit i somehow liked startrek - although i have to admit it is more soap then space opera...
But it is the only SciFi Serious having left some really pure utopian Humanity - and maybee that is the Reason for all that "Non-Warrior"chars... so concerning Humans StarTrek is unrealistic... what i never understood in StarTrek is why peoplz still move on feets... me i would request teleportation in the Seat- even down to the Planets - beam me everywhere Scotty - but i guess they are no longer couchpotatos in the Future
