Of course its staged. Its an E3 show off booth. In a real game there would probebly be a LOT more units and more super units, possibly a super unit for super unit, with more air support and possibly even navel support, if your lucky.

And if one side is beggining to lose, they can cut their losses by dropping a nuke on the battle.

I believe for the "proving that despite we are a a rag tag bunch of enthusiats we can do what they can do... better" factor... I don't like the idea either.

I think it's more like... "Hey, that would be an interesting battlefield to play on. And apparently the pros think so too! Lets make it!"

It's no different than remaking an OTA map that was interesting.

You know what would be a really cool map?

A gigantic....CAMMEL! Two mountins for the hump, a penensula for the head and water around it.

SupCom association aside, I think that the charm in this map design is that it has both vast land and water to work with, and the pinch-point in the middle of the land-bridge would no doubt promise some different and interesting employment of tactics.

You could have that with a camel. And it would be orignal, as one dude pointed out.

It really is huge, isn't it. What's the upper limit on a Spring map size?

if you use shadows, then 36x36 is the limit..

But everything above 32x32 will slow the game down dramaticly

Does Supcom work with metal patches?

Anyway, the maps looks intersting. Even if it is from supcom, I would like to see it in spring ^.^

If you notice, both halfs are just mirrors of each other. That means only half the work.

Dude .. that is just dumb. I bet you didn't thought anything like that when someone remade the highly famous Gods Of War, nor of Painted Dessert, nor of Comet Catcher, etc, etc, etc.

make it! and make it as sweet as aftershock !

my vote for the mapsize is between 24x24 and 32x32 :)

GUI work will start with that after tomorrow. Got myself a freelance website design job again :). (got to pay my computer hardware from something right :) )

Then it absolutely must be 32x32. Nothing less can suffice.

But this map is only 1/16th of the size of the larger maps in SupCom.

Also the best thing about Sup com is a minor scirmish packs more firepower then an entire, hour long GAME of Starcrap. Cool, eh?

Well, If no ones got as problem with me doing this, I will! Should be easy compared to my current project... Just time consuming due to HUGE file size i expect...

Just a few Questions... Metal Layout... any suggestions people? Im open for them, as Normaly Id do all undert he ground metal, butI expect people will like spots on this so I wont have a clue how to do that well...

Also... Ill probablie make the islands slightly different insted of just mirroring it... But I doubt you need to know that.

32 x 32 it is...

:: PS :: Id liek to thank Ice for teh vote of confidance there!!! :-)

Metal should be scarce, to force you to expand rather then just pork. Which will be easy, what with the smallish penensula. Oh and make sure there is plenty of incentrive to go navel.

I think it would be interesting if there were absolutely NO naval metal, so that the navy will just be to claim the peninsula in the middle.

But prolly nobody else agrees with me
