Well I'm chuffed I've become such an icon for idolisation and attention, though I am dismayed that that attention and idolisation is of malicious intent in some people

Re: Spring LOGO

Post by PauloMorfeo »

I really prefer the sunrise theme. I have some Photoshop, Gimp and Flash skills and so i will try to make a logo and banners since this seems to be dying (even there is beeing effort to make it alive again).

I am going to follow that line of the sunrise for the Spring logo and latter attach the TA-Spring part onto it.

Now what i want to know,
TA-Spring admins, is there any specific colors you would like?

Most logos consist of mainly 2 colors. And one of them marks the logo.
For example, Suse linux became known as the greenish one (logo and environment).
Doom 3 is known as redish. The logo is a red pentagram on black background. It features inside the game «The Red Planet».

Do you have any specific set of colors in the menus/game-interface?
Do you want anything specific like having the colors of a flag or something else?

If not, i will follow on whatever i find best...

Alantai the post where that was said was lost in the Great Hax of 2005. So you cant realy have a go at him for not knowing that. Not everyone has photo graphic memories of every post ever. I mean I remember a post about yellow hedghogs but im sure that can't have existed...

By the Way, the last thing the SY's said anything on this subject was somthing along the lines of...

We dont want a Fancy picture, just simple text with a little somthing extra, and not just someone adding an effect in phontshop to the word spring, and that it should porbablie have a full colour version and also a Plane B/W (or any two colours) version for t-shirts and such.

I did say sorry, but I'll have to say i again.

A good logo is simple
A good logo is good regardless of wether it's huge ro tiny, ti should fit on any sized object.
It should be replicable in such a way I can draw it in 5 seconds with a pencil or a general idea of it
It should be recognisable
It should be neutral, we dont want a logo soem people love and others hate
It must look proffesional
It must match any colour scheme and be adaptable to style or purpose
It must not be confusing
It must be simple enough to replicate in ASCII art
It must not be a gallery of photoshop effects bunged together
It must flow
It must compliment the spring project, and not TA specifically

Simply looking good isnt enough

Sorry?!? :o Buildable in ASCII!?!??! Your nuts!, youll never find a logo that fills all of those, especialy
It should be neutral, we dont want a logo soem people love and others hate
Cause there will always be someone that doesn't like it.

However, i suppose you have sort of laid it out clearly, if thats what people aim for then we wont get exactly that, but we will get somthing like what we need...

Take a look at the logos of the Blizzard games, they're big, colorful and difficult to miss. Something along those lines should guarantee that people see it, and hopefully want to learn more about it.

I disagree. The color scheme is part of the logo.
A logo is often a concept and it takes form and color to make it.

Check the Quake 3 arena icon. It is red with a well defined shape. It is easilly distinguishable for both.
Enter the game. You will see it in big behind the menu and everything redish in nature.

Check Doom 3. It has a bright red icon. In the game it uses the bluish menus most games tend to use from a few years to now but it is well marked by the presence of «The Red Planet» behind.
Red doesn't goes well with blue and maybe because of that the planet is much more brown than red.
All the environment of http://www.Doom3.com is a lively redish.

Check Firefox. It has a well defined red-fox enveloping some blue.
See:

It is clearly not surprising that most t-shirts with the Firefox logo be blue.

The logo should fit in with as many colour schemes as possible. Yes we can stick colour in there btu as long as we use it correctly and nto simply for the sake of colour. For example the firefox logo can eb seen like that btu ti has been seen in monochrome or B+w looking good and other colour schemes. What about the sony logo? That fits on top fo pictures and any colour save white, though it is admittedly just the word sony, the same with microsoft, etc. Logos that do sue colour correctly such as HSBC though hsbc is limited to a white background and red foreground which makes it effective at a bank btu nto for the likes of a game engine. Perhaps a logo will be known for it's style and nto be exactly the same every time. For example lets say Spring was well known for havign a general format and monochrome arrows in random directions in art neuvau style, people would remember i and it wouldnt matterwhat type of arrow or even if ti where an arrow as long as the style was there

I just rememberd a site I have bookmarked that would be bound to have something perfect for spring. http://errare.de/fraktale/ has got heaps of awesome fractals (mathmatically generated images), and if you look at only one it must be gallery 18 number 72, could you imagine appocalypse any better?

Neuralize! Now thats what im talking about! Ideas gallore! I especialy like the epic engin one... Even with the flower, a huge improvement on the older version (with the flower pot). Hell i doubt i can come up with anything much better than that. Where did you do that damed effect of the tire tracks... its a well pukka mask to use.

I like the epic engine one too though I think that maybe a simplification might be in order to make it more variable in where it can go and fit in

Yes, but you can have a very compicated version still, its just depends where it would be used. So if a Logo had to be very small you would use the simple version. That would look great on a t-shirt on the other hand, or as a larger logo else where.
