A feature placement system where you can import and place features on the fly surely wouldn't go amiss in this.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have been thinking a little of this.
Is there an easy way to convert the 3d format of a feature into a 2d representation?

For now, you can use the Feature image and the red layer to lay out the features.

I'm afraid I'll have to work a little on efficiency before I can put in image overlays though.

Maybe we'll just wait for user Rejun to complete his Map Editor poser app with MAD ORDRES OF MAGANATUDES OF IMPROVEMENT!!!!~~oneone

We'll see.
In the meantime, any other comments?

Whoa, this sounds great for me, especially if you can get Feature placement to not suck! I love modeling, and I love painting, but really hate drawing heightmaps, working with command-line applications, and generally having to use my left brain (which is usually working on other stuff, like mod balance, and doesn't like Being Disturbed while doing so). Tools like this (and, um, a better BOS creation/preview system) would really take a lot've the general suck out've making mods. Can't wait to see the next version of this :-)

I have included some examples of how to use the feature placement in the program directory.

Basically, you will have to provide .png images for your features numbered [1-255].png. When using the pencil tool on the feature layer, the program will look for the image indexed by the red layer. So, if you put a red=255 pixel somewheres, the program will display feature 1.png. Red=254 --> 2.png ... etc. This should help with feature placement somewhat.
