As already made clear by many people, what it actually sparks is irritation when other peoples time is wasted explaining there is no way to report/fix problems with it.

Again, a bizarre response when this thread is a response in itself to fixing one such problem.

no, this is no "bizarre response". It is aweful when people are posting problems with tasclient but there is no way / possibility to fix them.

https://github.com/spring/TASClient was an approach to fix this, but satirik isn't cooperative, so very likely all download links of tasclient will be removed if the problem of having no official and used bugtracker isn't solved.

Cooperative with whom?

There is an API released to Tasclient so anyone can customise it or fix issues if they wish to. Again, you can not say that there is a general issue with problems not being fixed, because look at the title of this topic. If you insist there are problems then maybe be more specific as to what they are.

Also users need to have some lobby to play the game. I don't see anyone recommending any alternatives...

Yes, there are windows users playing spring and they also need a lobby to connect to the community. I hope this does not come as a surprise.

I'm trying to do that: I could not make it update beyond 0.169 in linux. In windows I can run version 0.210 and it works fine with current engine, but I can't download new ones. But I guess that's not what most users need to do often.

Does SWL work with linux/ubuntu/mint? How to install it? You have to download the static builds?

I also tried to build flobby in ubuntu/mint, but it's not available yet for that distro I suppose.
