Well that is certainly what I wanted to make eventually, having cliff pieces, with asthetic overhang, or caves

The challenge in that idea is to have the feature pieces blend in with the terrain.

I got no time to experiment though.

Just a thought, but could it be caused by compression/compilation? If I remember right mapconv looks for repeating tiles(squares) so maybe its just something to do with the way mapconv compiles it. Either way I'm guessing transparency wasn't in mind when mapconv was coded (if that even matters).

.. yeah, this will fail if you zoom out, and spring starts using less polygons for the terrain.

the thread has already advanced to climbing around on cliffs and space cruisers but here comes the space grid again:

Is a textured rectangle drawn with lua. So you could use transparent maptexture to make a hole in the map and then texture that hole with lua.
For example have two asteroids in space and between them is this walkable forcefield or something.
The lines are still a bit crooked because the texture is bad..it also not tileable :roll: #yolo #mspaint
