Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
this seems silly;
let bob / beh / caldera decide a name as they are the ones putting work in. i can understand the excitement from players but really shouldn't the naming be done by people with ownership of the project?

Surely there is no harm in suggestions though?
Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Also agreed. This thread was merely to try and conjure up some nice names in case their naming creativity was lackingKaiserJ wrote:this seems silly;

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Imo we should first find consensus/agree whether the name would be humoristic or serious.
Both has their own challenges.
Humoristic name can't be too humoristic. It should be sopisthicated enought to tell that the the game itself isn't a joke.
Serious names can become really silly when you try to magnify something that in reality isn't that magnificent.
Theres a lot of cliches also in this scene, so you better be aware of them. Imo you should totally forget all the 'totals' and 'annihilations' and 'supremes' and ''magnificents' and all that kind of pretentious stuff. Don't take a clothes that you dont fit in.
Zero-K is one of the bad examples. How much I like the game, the name is ludicrous. You should never ever have 'zero' or 'shadow' in your name, they are the biggest cliches you can have. Zero-K as a name tries to be cool but you know the people who 'try' to be cool but end up not being cool.

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
no harm whatsoever;
was more of a response to keeping the name as BA:R or BA, as i don't feel that copying the old name or the WIP name would put the amount of work donated justice.
anyways all of your names are too short. picture your name on the cover of a D&D campaign supplement to check suitability
Hephaestus Reborn: Guardians of the Galactic Core
Composers of the Alloy Symphony
Steel and Sinew : Heroes of the Eternal War
Ravishing Robot Romance 3 : Peewee goes to College

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Have we overloked two other options:
- Keep B.A.R as an acronym, but refuse to say what ti stands for, should make for numerous hilarious threads and folklore
- Turn the acronym BAR into the word Bar. As in Iron bar?

From a google search for 'most overused words in video game titles':SirArtturi wrote:Imo we should first find consensus/agree whether the name would be humoristic or serious.

http://shareranks.com/5533,Most-Overuse ... ame-Titles
Shadow #1, Zero not mentioned
http://www.gamesradar.com/6-extremely-o ... me-titles/
Neither mentioned
http://geekzkrieg.com/overused-words-fo ... ame-names/
Shadow #14, Zero not mentioned
Most other links after that seem to link to one of these three.
Conclusion: pretty much inconclusive, except that comparing it to 'shadow' as an overused name is completely unfair.
Anyway, I wouldn't have been arsed to do a search except that these links might be useful for people suggesting BAR names, as many of you are using lots of them.

Well, you may be right that it was a bit unfair to position them together like that, but for my defense, I wasn't referring only to game names, but also to names altogether (including pseudonyms, internet nicks etc.)luckywaldo7 wrote: Conclusion: pretty much inconclusive, except that comparing it to 'shadow' as an overused name is completely unfair.
So, I merely categorized them together to the list of 'forbidden' :)

Btw, I personally liked 'Big Angry Robots' (cant remember who suggested it)
But not sure if it makes justice for the game. Maybe too hilarious...

Don't forget to google your name suggestions to see what comes up. You will want your website to be #1 when people google your name.
And think about potential domain names.
