I explored the island, I saw the mine locations, I did not know that my warehouse had to be within a certain range of them.

Obviously if my warehouse is out of range, and never goes into range, how do I know that the mine icons flash?

ok if you never played an ANNO title before, that can be confusing ^^ but the ingame wiki explains what to do with mines quite nicely imho.
