hell... i watch a lot of movies

panda i think if you liked pans labyrinth you'd get into "the devils backbone" quite easily. similar sort of tone

sinbad if you enjoyed battle royale (great flick btw i'd forgotten that one) then you might also enjoy some other movies with beat takeshi (he plays the teacher) and i guess i'll list some of the ones i enjoyed :)

-Violent Cop (1989) : name speaks for itself. lots of kicks to the ribs
-Brother (2000) : a yakuza gangster flees to the united states and teams up with a local gang. deals with issues of friendship, loyalty and free will. greatly underrated movie, and IMO a masterpiece melding of western subject matter with japanese cinematography.
-Zatoichi (2003) : a remake / compilation of the popular tv series "blind swordsman". takeshi plays a blind masseur who is suspected by local criminals to be an accomplished samurai guilty of previous indescretion when he moves into town. mayhem ensues.

hobo : for whatever reason i just couldn't take the hellboy character himself. pretty good flicks though, certainly worth a watch.

Pxtl : the hobbit, directed by micheal bay, produced robert rodriguez. starring shia lebouf as bilbo, with john cusack as gandalf and david schwimmer as the voice of smaug.

Zatoichi and Battle Royale are both awesome films. I bought my copy of Battle Royale online.

Kaiser's right about Beat Takeshi being an awesome actor and I'll have to watch "The Devil's Backbone".
