No, just standard rejection e-mail:
Thank you for submitting "Spring RTS engine" organization application to Google Summer of Code 2010. Unfortunately, we were unable to accept your organization's application at this time. We received many more applications for the program than we are able to accommodate, and we would encourage you to reapply for future instances of the program.

Thats a reason. They simply could not take more games. Why we did not get a slot but other games did, interests me.

What is it for?
It would be ironic if in the future spring becomes so successful it pushes Google out of even the search engine market.

Meh. I don't see any other game engines there at all. Did I miss one?

Maybe they don't recognize what Spring's about.

Just at a quick glance, this year's winners were mainly organizations working on things Google's already using the code of, that would improve the overall business health of the Web in general, or that Google might want to acquire later. There were a few blue-sky projects working on things that might be outside Google's interest, but there's a very distinct pattern here.

Anyhow, very sorry that I couldn't help more. There really has to be a way to get through to them, so maybe I'll work on thinking about that while I'm hacking away for the next few days :|

Tip sign into the same clubs as some of the overseers...
Or eh..lets add some sophisticated advertising scheme into spring where pop ups with adds appear on surfaces of maps.

  • Battle for Wesnoth
  • Crystal Space
  • Freedroid RPG
  • ScummVM
  • Thousand Parsec
  • Worldforge
Maybe not all of them are dedicated "game engines" but still the gaming sector isn't that rare...

Chiming in after a few years, just because i am amused that you even tried it again this year.

Spring will NEVER get into Google Summer of Code.

Want to know why?

Lets think about what those people do when they get an application. They take a look at the website, and at the forum.
Reading a few threads here will be enough for them to realize that they could never send some unsuspected student here.
Its simply an unfriendly and abusive environment that has been stagnating for years.

Possibly something to do with sending the application only 6 days before the final organisations were to be announced?

Is it not a first come first served basis?

From this year?

http://socghop.appspot.com/gsoc/program ... e/gsoc2010

I don't see any of them there, so am I looking at the wrong place, or are we just talking about the past here?
