"from the creator of Terminator 2 and Aliens" sells it to me a 100 times better but I guess they're trying to appeal to the fringe market (girls).

Past use of cutting edge special effects is as close to flawless as they come.

Holy shiiiiit, this game was stuck in my mind and wanted to replay it but I forgot the name, thanks a ton!

A side question: wouldn't you happen to know of a similarly old (maybe not so old) game where a remote control could multiply/evolve aliens and weapons had different effects on aliens every game, also the aliens could kidnap someone from your team and put them into their lair room or whatever. It was from top down view.

My guess is that Avatar is gonna be a mix of lolcats and Soldier(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120157/).

I wish they didn't name this movie "Avatar". It keeps making me think of "The Last Airbender" movie that's based on the "Avatar" series. I want to see "The Last Airbender". It's a cute series and my favorite character is Toph.

I don't know how they were able to name the Avatar movie Avatar when "The Last Airbender" movie was coming out too.

Oddly enough, not being a film geek, I heard a lot more about The Last Airbender movie before hearing about Cameron's one, because there was a lot of noise in the blogosphere because (once again) Hollywood took a story about a bunch of Asian kids and hired a bunch of white actors.

/yes, ATLA isn't set on Earth, they're not Asian-Asian... but come on, it's obviously supposed to be an Asian setting.

It looks like it will be quite a good movie, but I dare not read this thread as I am avoiding spoilers.

Not all of the characters are Asian... I'm pretty sure the Water-Benders are Inuit, the Fire Benders are Chinese, the Air-Benders are Europeans and the Earth Benders are Americans...

I was just watching the finale of So You Think You Can Dance and they had a chick singling the theme from Avatar... yet more evidence they are trying to get chicks to watch it.

The critics, it must be said, really are liking this overall.

They basically are saying, "sure, the story's fairly cliche, and it's funny that a movie that's essentially anti-technology in message is built with $250 million dollars of the highest tech around, but this really is the next generation of special effects we're seeing, and it's a very compelling world".

Hmm..
Well after seeing the trailer i was a bit disappointed.
After all,Its pretty safe to assume that when people start visiting other planets and exploring the galaxy restoring limbs would be a piece of cake?

Air benders? European? Are you retarded? Earth benders? American? What?

None of the races are anglo-saxon in any way or form! The closest thing is that race of cajun-esque swamp guys, but even that's psuhing it. They're all some flavor or squinty-eyed mother fuckers, Japenese, Chinese, Inuit, Thai, or something... The only time i even remember seeing a vaguely caucasian motherfucker in the series is in one of the bar scenes where that crazy chick assassin arm wrestles random people...
