Odd that a civilisation as tehnologically advanced as us would be interested in civilisations that existed on this planet tens of thousands of years ago, creating an entire subject about it named archeology, or going back further.
Still it would be advantageous to send ships back to those times and silently observe rather than specualting on bones and artefacts.
And microbes on mars is different. We have never found alien life on another planet that we havent put there ourselves (some of the apollo missions werent sterilised properly, aswell as possibly one of the viking missions to mars)
However perhaps a FTL capable civilisation would be interested in surveying us forresearch purposes, but I think they'd be worried that they might be detected given the rate of advancement in any civilisation at our point of development.
Other than that, why should a technologically superior race bother with a race who have onyl sent <30 people to their nearest neighbour.

What is there is evidence to support aliens did indeed mess with us? what if the origins of these aliens were originally from this planet?
there are 3 races that are most commonly reported.
-The Greys, Supposedly come from Zeta Reticuli, have disporportionate heads and very slenders bodies, have slanted black eyes (which reportedly are membranes covering very cat like eyes) try to find Alien Interview on a file sharing programme, they are still not sure if it's real or not, it does move puppety, but on the other hands it does things very much unlike puppets. this species is most reported in abduction phenomena and other encounters, there are 3 types reported.
-Nordic, Possibly a decendant of mankind, many different types have been reported, the most common is the Aryan type (E.G. Blonde, Blue eyes) and usually are very tall and very muscular, the first encounter with ETs in modern times was supposedly between hitler and these aliens, hence him preferring the Aryan race, but this is not supported by any credible evdidence. (no offense is meant to any jewish members, i'm not a neo-nazi nor a supporter of the Nazi's, this is just something that came out of my research)
-Reptillian, humanoid race with Reptillan features, speculated to be decendants of the dinosaurs and also speculated to have been the first inteligent race on the planet, they alledgedly moved underground from the cathostropies on earth, other reports say they moved off the planet, could be a combination of both, they are often hostile and engage in sexually assaulting their victims.

Now THIS is good for a laugh. Someone is convinced that Saturns moon Iapetus is actually a 900-mile wide hollow spacecraft.

Ive only read part of it, but the amount of times he contradicts himself in the writing is just funny. He latches onto a few blurry photos, and points at things in the shadows, saying 'Look! Ruins of an ancient civilisation!'. Later he claims that it was inhabited by nanobots that created a massive wall around Iapetus's equator. This 'wall' is actaully real, and is very strange, but looks more like a mountain range to me.
Good for a laugh, even if it is a bit long.

I'll tell ya one of the more basic but funny ideas a freind came up with. think about a race of aliens whos life spans are almost imersurably longer than ours then imagine they just kind of oneday get bored. they decide hey what the hell lets see what happens if we chuck this funny looking thing we genetically engineared into this planet that seems to be rather rich in life. suddenly you have the big new TV hit in the omacron persiei 8 system! reality TV at its best!
Another one that a slightly more intelectual frind came up with was the concept of the so called "baby in a box" idea. Where humans have been put on earth by other humans who wanted to see if we would develope in the same way as they would or if we would develope in a weird and different way to answer the question of genetic programing. yeh it might be a bit overblown just to answer that question but at the same time it would be the most complete and indepth study of its kind.

He still hasn't improved his website in the two years since I last contacted him, and he had a radio programme about a year ago that doesn't seem to be running anymore. He advocates the use of Silver water (basically running electricity through water with silver anodes to put silver ions in the water) to both shield you from EM radiation and government made illnesses (AIDS). I don't suggest you do this, as it is amazingly poisonous.
John Mecca was the lead of a now defunct company called "BigHard Inc." which I can only guess as to their field of expertise. The man never had a real job, never got beyond a high-school education, and believes that the government is showering us with hallucinogenic mist from orbit.
Why this sudden change of heart? Why is he convinced the government is out to get him? His girlfriend felt sick after walking through a metal detector at an airport. Nevermind food poisoning, the government wants to silence her for being a low level nurse! Oh the humanity!
