Blame the sauce. The flaw, it turns out, lay in an open-source software library called the Perl Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE) library, which is used by many products including Apache, the PHP scripting language, and Apple's Safari browser, which Miller hacked to win the contest.

Re: are macs alrite?
I'm on a desktop iMac. I've used both Mac and Windows machines for decades (Amiga, C64 before that). I'd say that the Mac is nice as a clean working machine (and it belongs to my firm). I mostly just photoshop, browse, write and code and don't need to do much more. I often write my own utils in BlitzMax when I need them.
I use a Windows laptop for fun and games. There are more games coming out for Mac now, but how many are good RTS games? :) I do have DosBox on the Mac, but there are not a lot of emulators to choose from, unless you want to build things yourself which means installing a bunch of extra crap.
I did need to find some drivers for my older peripherals, but otherwise most things just worked. Time machine (auto backups) is simple but nice. Spotlight (search function) is pretty nimble.
As for viruses, there's no perfect security, so being a smaller target is the best I can do, I figure. Being careful doesn't seem to help me when on Windows :/
As for problems, Well, it stands on the desktop (the computer and screen are one), so you'll hear the fans. What's worse, the GPU/CPU gets hot, and since it's behind the screen, the heat can cause temporary pixel burn-ins. There's an app for speeding up the fan, but that means more noise.

The light confirms that it's off.
