Research is a vital part of many rts games. If we do not implement it as an option for modders, how are we to save them from their dependence on commercial game engines

This would be very useful for choosing what side sponsons are on tanks or what weapon turret the Chimera uses in Epic TA etc

I know someone is making a Tiberian Sun mod. This would work well for the GDI coponent tower

This would also let you implement the "connected structures" building method where you start with the basic building and add factories and repair stations etc to it.

Come to think of it, the last two would be possible if buildings could build other buildings...
