Don't do that, use 'reclaim' on it, so you get a nice slice of pie to build something useful.jellyman wrote:Unless the other player is really really bad and the plan is to build an advanced fusion. Then d-gun it and say Lollicide made you do it.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
What about making the mod like starcraft where terran buildings can fly and throwing that huge explosive chunk of metal on the enemy? :)
You must be sure the players ahead of you are decent tought... in many games I started behind and didnt worried about expanding, discovering too late that my allies on front were noobs that werent going to expand :) The lesson is that if you consider yourself a decent player and there are noobs in your team, TAKE than front spot even if you dont like it :)JAZCASH wrote:Tbh the only time you should ever porc is when you can't expand. For example if you're stuck at the back of an 8 v 8 game with 3 mexes, I would advise porc and hand out T2 then rush nukes

Apparently people who are GOLD STARS still need to be sat down and made to read this over and over again until they get it.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
A lot of GOLD STARS got their GOLD STAR from specwhoring/being an sm hero/a hell of a lot of dsd.
If you play exclusively ba 4v4+ dsd/altored/folsom/tabula w/e games you will never get any good.
All the tips a noob really needs: Scout, expand, attack. Its depressing how often you see "experienced" players failing to perfom these basic tasks.

Scout, expand, attack, REACT AND GIVE ORDERS WHEN YOUR BASE IS ATTACKED.

That's just the thing though, I've been in on DSD games and my god, nobody knows how the fricking frick to play!pintle wrote:A lot of GOLD STARS got their GOLD STAR from specwhoring/being an sm hero/a hell of a lot of dsd.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
Because dsd really doesnt test you in the way, for example, the same number of players on comet or bluebend would. It's too damn easy to porc and eco whore, too long a delay on player interactions, very little room for flanking etc etc etc.
Most players prefer this though. Just like Twilight Flame on Generals, people are drawn to big-ass porcy maps, because its a low pressure, casual, game environment. I dont think the people drawn to such a situation place great store in becoming UBARLEIT, or have a real desire to test themselves in 1v1, so expecting them to make substantial efforts to improve is a little naive imo.
Instead of complaining vehemently about the lack of skill in random team pickup games on dsd-alike maps, maybe go play in different games?

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
Not quite what I mean, here's an example:
I'm playing front line in a 5v5 on dsd, 1 ally in the north, 3 in the south with me. My buddy plays front with me. 4 colors appear in the south, but they seem content to build a line, so me and my buddy do our usual special porc line.
30 minutes later....
Our defense line has all but crumbled, we've been point spamming our 2 back allies, who are continuing to build adv fusions (Even though they already have 4+). We finally give up when our line gets destroyed entirely and then we self-d when we see those useless bastards building Vipers and Pitbulls on the ramps up to their base. (Which is a good half-a-map away from the actual front line.)
End result: They get bombered, we lose, NO GG.
And I disagree, I only really play one/two games a day if I'm lucky, dsd does have quite alot of potential airdrop flanking points and its good for testing out some of the crazy strategies that me and mah buddy have come up with. But it does usually contain moar than the average selection of the worst players evar.
Oh, I do play different games, but when you get on for like an hour at most, usually the only map that's got any people on is a DSD, Altored etc.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
lollicide, Seriously dude imo you are playing the wrong mod. Have you considered trying something like CA or somesuch? It might fit your expectations better. TBH BA won't live up well to what you want because it's not really that kind of game from an individual's standpoint.
Unfortunately the BA players are more to blame really than the mod is. It's everyone for themselves, and that's how people think. But like I said, maybe you should give CA a shot and see if you like it.

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
Yeah if you are saying dsd is becomming a map that trap ppl inside and make them believe that ther is a right strategy with 5vs5 on dsd wha tis very good strategy in general. And the map make those ppl shout at ppl how they should right porc and economy then your right. They are the DSD generals of spring.

lol. I bitch about teammates not helping and everyone suggests its a mod problem.
It isn't a mod problem, its a player problem.

Tried that, they build a factory and try to tech on two metal spots and then die so fast it was like they werent even there.Satirik wrote:you're playing BA for years and you still dont know you always have to put noobs on front ?[TS]Lollocide wrote:lol. Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
Just host a game with a <rank x= autospec.
Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
The thing is, in CA, for example, there are no players that pull a ubber porc economy out of aparently nowhere that inspire noobs to porc, actually there is hardly any porc econ at all, differently from BA :) (off course you will see people making tons of solars and fusions but in CA you need a lot more energy and having extra doesnt hurts since it gets overdrived into metal)[TS]Lollocide wrote:lol. CA does gets ocasionally hurt by noobs that try to play it like they play BA tough, and after their strategy that wouldnt work even in BA fails and criples the team they say the mod sucks and ragequit

Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
I like BA DSD noobs. Its funny as hell to win with comdrop + dgun or stuff like pewee spam. Even fleaspam can seriously pwn most dsd players.
Re: Lern2play noob: A hint
Its usually a good idea to leave the tech 1 factory spaming scout units then you hit tech 1 in BA. Having a swarm of cheap, expendable, ultra-fast units ready to go at any time is utterly usefull.
