I hate people that force you to leave absolutely no room for mis-interpretation...

Sturmgewehr 44 or an MG42, the Thompson from ww2 also would be nice,

You shot one handed a gun you have never fired before that is notorious for extreme kick... You could probably comfortably shoot the gun one handed, but you damn near risked breaking your wrist firing it without knowing what to expect.

In terms of felling trees... that's easier said than done. Of course it depends on the tree... but they took 50 cal MGs to trees in mythbusters and couldn't get one to fall within a reasonable amount of ammunition used.

Soldiers dont shot down planes with guns due to lack of accuracy, not power :)

Very true. Knowing what to expect is definitely important. I've shot a glock 45 one handed before with little trouble so I figured that if I held it much the same way allowing for shock that I'd be fine, but alas, I was in no way prepared for that much recoil. Yeah, I prolly could shoot it now with one hand and be fine, but tbh, I'm simply scared shitless of them. Plus, Imagine how silly I felt with the original try. Thankfully my first thought was to put the safety on after I fired it, the thought of dropping it and it popping off a round terrifies me. Not so much for my own safety, but others.

I'll prolly try it again someday, cause the power of it is nothing short of breathtaking, but for the moment, I'm very content with just being scared of them and staying away.

I know but its the kind of joke you want to avoid being the victim of :)

Why everbody wants big guns? We are civilians (maybe somebody is militar but I assume this question is from a civilian point of view), if we ever get ourselves in a gunfight its mostly gonna be in a city, ranges will be short and there is some chance you wont know who is the enemy straigh away and vice-versa, in a situation like that I would prefer stealth over power: Big guns dont stop bullets :)

Some say it is the James Dean of the World of Weapons, because the Sovjet Union collapsed before it became Standard ...

but i love the futuristic Design..

So? The G3 is fucking awesome none the less. What, am I supposed to be like constantly buying a gun every like 10 years or so becuase the last one might be 'out dated'. Fuck, americans use the fucking M16, that thing is 50 years old with out an actually true update. And atleast the G3 isnt a peace of shit. A gun that shoots reliably is a gun-that shoots reliably. I dont see the point of buying a gun like that might be newer for no reason at all. People still use the gun today becuase it fucking works like its supposed to.

Fuck, hell, the AK47 is OLDER then the fucking G3. People buy the AK47 becuase its a GOOD gun. Its not as if people are fucking buying the now 61 year old guns, they buy the guns from the same design principle that are just manufactured more recently. The gun is reliable and still fucking works.

No, its low cost and simple maintenance are its primary advantages.
