Day 1 Impressions: Right now the negatives outweigh the positives, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the game. I have hope that with time I'll figure out or get around many of the problems. I've also done mostly PVE, when I know the game's main focus is PVP and RVR. I've also been unable to crack the nut that makes MMOs fun, socialising.
Like:
[*]PQs: its a lot of fun to jump into a large-scale, objective based battles. First PQ quest was pretty memorable with the dragons fighting on the bridge.
[*]Writing: Tome of Knowledge is great, and Lore is interesting, backed by generally good writing. Quest writing is good as well.
[*]Grinding - I've not once so far needed to grind, and doing only PVE. Everything seems to have been scaled well.
Don't Like:
[*]Nobody talks, nobody works together, and I can't make friends *cry* (at least on my server): This might be because its a new MMO, but I'm having a hard time getting people to talk or cooperate in a group. They all seem to be grinding in the PQ areas, which doesn't make any sense when taking into account my point above. I'm guessing people are still trying to figure out the basic game mechanics and how their classes work, thus are too busy for the social aspect of MMOs (why play an MMO!?!!). I've gone into this game without knowing anyone else who plays, so I'm left with trying to find people ingame, which isn't working out so well thus far.
[*]Faction Imbalance: I've not played much RVR or PVP so I don't know its real impact, but judging by the little bar in the corner, and all the full Destruction servers, it seems Order is heavily outnumbered.
[*]Specialisation: Finding it hard to distinguish my character from the droves of other Sorcerers. It's early days though.
[*]Hybrid healers - don't think mythic thought this through: None of the healers heal... you can imagine what this means.
[*]Population problems: The PQs, RVR, PVP, and many of the quests are very much dependent on having large groups to complete them. However, you often come across PQ areas that are completely devoid of players. In the Chapter 1 areas it wasn't a problem, with the high density of new players. I'm finding that the further I go out into the map there are fewer and fewer people. This kinda breaks the game in some areas.
[*]EULA: Why the hell do I have to agree to the eula EVERY TIME I login!!
