SVG while a nice idea is unrealistic. None of the lobbies currently use SVG icons yet and very few modders actually know what SVG means nm how to make them.
Something like this would have been done ages ago but betalord has always insisted on bitmaps, which I assume is because he didn't want to have to add png support to tasclient, so the discussion between me hollowsoul and him broke down.
So for now I would keep the bmp for backwards compatibility and use the png if its available.
