Oh, OTA was probably better optimized than Spring.
That makes OTA better than Spring - if you're an FPS whore.
If you're an FPS whore, feel free to go back to CS.

What if... OTA ran at a constant rate? Who's got the bigger balls now!

Spring could run at a constant rate too, if you have a good enough computer.rattle wrote:What if... OTA ran at a constant rate? Who's got the bigger balls now!
edit. Doesn't it run 32 sim frames per second? Or 30?
Re: Atari Inc. Buyout Completed - Relevant to OTA IP?
OTA didn't run at a constant rate...IIRC network lag slowed it down.

Heh, OTA used software rendering. Lets not forget that.

A software rendering option for Spring would actually be much appreciated.

Re: Atari Inc. Buyout Completed - Relevant to OTA IP?
For me. I would have to gather a following to make this applicable, however.
The reason is that I have a 1000 USD super computer project in the works with school. 10 Ghz? Pfffft, give me 20. It is actually using multiple 6 Ghz processors, and spring is not really multithreaded as far as I can tell. Making a separate core/processor do the graphics would be cake.

Good luck with using a supercomputer as a replacement for a GPU, graphics cards are specifically designed for their job and have insane processing power (take e.g. the Playstation 3, the CPU in that thing was designed specifically for large numbers of floating point ops yet the GPU outperforms it by an order of magnitude in that job). You could probably try using one of the software OpenGL drivers...
