Yes i would.

The real thing that you have to worry about is not the frog, the IRS or its various equivalents that I don├óÔé¼Ôäót know the name's of (yet!). You REALLY have to worry about U.S Customs when traveling to other planets.

A space probe to Venus in the 80's needed diamond windows to get a clear photo of the planets surface. SO NASA bought some diamonds that fit the bill, but they had to pay an insane fine to US Customs, due to the fact that the diamonds where from out of country. Then, a few years later, the probe left the earth and the funds where returned because the diamonds had left America!

Also i really am filled with rage about the local public apithy of the local population. The general mantra is "Its expensive in the short run, and there are more pressing problems here, so why go into space?"

I can think of a several page reson why....

Space exploration is not only a possible future, it is the ONLY future that doesn├óÔé¼Ôäót leave me with a deep depression. Earth has finite resources├óÔé¼┬ª right? But we, as a spice├óÔé¼Ôäós have infinite needs that constantly expand. Theses needs can be offset to an extent, and even slowed to a crawl. But they remain none the less!

The only way we can get a infinite recourses is to have an infinite space with a infinite amount of things in it, read resources! What is the only thing that is truly infinite? The universe. So if we stay on our cradle, we will either nuke our self├óÔé¼Ôäós to oblivion or die in our own pollution. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhy can we live in peace?├óÔé¼┬Ø Some will say. I├óÔé¼Ôäóm not saying that we can├óÔé¼Ôäót, because it├óÔé¼Ôäós all up to human nature. Witch you can change, because you can├óÔé¼Ôäót even define human nature for crying out loud! But I do know that man and women can not be brothers or sisters with out infinite resources.

I mean, look at how people kill each other of oil, food, money, cars, Rolexes and other manifestations of material wealth. That is one of the primary response people kill each other. The other two are Religion and neurological/chemical screw ups in the murderer├óÔé¼Ôäós brain. Oh that, and the opposite sex. Animals kill each other (of the same spice├óÔé¼Ôäós that is) all the time from mate├óÔé¼Ôäós, and so do we. Cause unless you├óÔé¼Ôäóre a bible thumper, idiot or uneducated you can├óÔé¼Ôäót not believe in evolution*!

So If we expand into space we will also create a frontier. What do frontier├óÔé¼Ôäós make, other then whisky towns and the resurgence of dueling pistols**? New technologies! Why do you think that in the last hundred years we have gone from a low tech, steam based, horse riding society to a computerized, globally connected, space exploring society. In just one hundred years! Compared to the two to three hundred year gap between various other ages, that is (The middle age├óÔé¼Ôäós and the Dark Age├óÔé¼Ôäós come to mind here)

We created a new frontier. The exploration and colonization of America was perfect for a flourishing new technology. Freed from repressive regimes and even more repressive churches (Spain and Christianity come to mind), new technologies where born on the frontier, where they where needed! We aren├óÔé¼Ôäót going to designed anything we don├óÔé¼Ôäót want, and we wont GET anything if we stay in the rut. How do we get out of the rut? Space Travel.

New Planets
New Life
New and better Technology├óÔé¼Ôäós
True Freedom, as long as you have a hydroponics garden and a mining laser. And a smelter. And a automated factory to keep your ship in running order, too.

All of theses things and MORE are not only available in this Solar System, but we can get them too.

* Seriously, the evidence for evolution is nothing more then overwhelming. You cant see the fossil record and NOT see the obvious linkage between man and ape. Or Cat and Lion. Or a verity of other spice├óÔé¼Ôäós. Not to mention DNA! DNA DNA! We are 98% related to Chimps for your god├óÔé¼Ôäós sake! 2% out of ten billion line├óÔé¼Ôäós of A├óÔé¼Ôäós, T├óÔé¼Ôäós, G├óÔé¼Ôäós and C├óÔé¼Ôäós!

**Dueling prospered in the Wild West because the rapidly expanding frontier was a step ahead of the law. So no one could realy STOP dueling, could they?

Yes but we also share 80% of our DNA with the cabbage

Yes no matter what people say space exporation is the way forward wether they like it or not, ebcause it will happen. The US is the country with the most satellites in space, they dwarf all other governments, they ahve 800 satellites in space out of a total of 2800, the vast majority of which where launched by multinational companies and consortiums of companies and governments. Commercial growth in some sectors relies upon space, and communications and observations willd rive that industry, already the prospect fo sending more satellites per launch and bringing launch costs down is driving the same developments that where originally intended for space tourism such as the X prize and its winners and the NASA X-13,X-11, etc. However even though space isnt relly a problem as if we or our governments dont go there, commercialisation of space is inevitable, but commercialisation brigns with ti an unsightly foe, one so great in its annoyance the world shuddders at its voice, the crazy frog.....

"Welcome to mars, please wait while we dock"
"Oh there'll be music, stop whining.."
"But mummy I'm bored!!!"
...
"ARRGGGHHHHHHH"
"ba ding ding ding da da de dum dum da......"

this thread has gone from someones user name, to a semi-serious discussion on the role of Crazy-Frog in future human space endeavours. Think about it.
