There's a major flaw: no one gives a shit.
Voting is like this:
You get served two or more piles of feces for dinner and you have to chose one. You're either going to pick the smallest one or get spoon-fed the largest (reflecting the minor parties you don't want to gain power).

well youd still be surprised at the number of idiots here that do nothing else than bitch. its kinda annoying. anyway.
No? Ok then don't say I did nothing but bitch, because I have no power as a result of my having no money or corporate backing. Don't be so self-righteous, you get herded into a line to vote and go home feeling like a good citizen. Wow, you just chose between 2 people with the same agenda, one of whom is almost certainly doomed to failure because a tabloid snapped a shot of him with broccoli stuck in his teeth or something.
(unless he gives a speech about how this should prove that he supports children eating vegetables and if you elect him he will enact his new "one child, one vegetable" program and increase vegetable funding to inner-urban children who are deprived of the goodness of turnip - which can be blamed directly on his opponent's harsh "burn the vegetables" mentality. And probably violent video games.)
You want to make a difference, go out there and protest or something like a good boy. Oh wait, that's now illegal.

Bump for Super Tuesday
Seems Obama did very well - he almost got as many delegates as Clinton.

Re: American elections
Well with the democrats nothing changed, Obama and Clinton are virtually tied. Whereas with the republicans Mccain has a clear lead, but that's only because Huckabee and Romney are splitting the other half of the vote. If Huckabee were to drop out and endorse Romney that would change things quite a bit.

Re: American elections
Tbh i think anyone who seeks to govern a population probably isnt the right person for the job...
Premierships, presidencies etc should be offered to random clever chaps through some sort of independant selection thingie towards the end of the current government and whittled down to a few candidates through a popular vote, without using bucketloads of cash!
there must be someone who'd say "alright, i'll give it a go" when its offered to them..

Re: American elections
I can appreciate the idea behind not wanting people to govern who want to govern simply so they can feel important and tell other people what to do... But those aren't the only reasons for taking on a job like that, and there's a plethora of qualifications which require real work to meet that I believe any person in power should meet, that I doubt you would find in any joe expecting bystander.Cabbage wrote:Tbh i think anyone who seeks to govern a population probably isnt the right person for the job...

But if they say yes, they want to govern the population, hence they are unfit...Cabbage wrote:Tbh i think anyone who seeks to govern a population probably isnt the right person for the job...
