I can make this look pretty and run at 30 FPS constantly. To make BioShock look pretty, I have to go down to framerates varying between 10 and 30 fps.

So, no, BlackLiger, I don't think that's accurate, at all. Same engine does net mean same performance. Compare Vampire: The Masquarde: Bloodlines with Half-Life 2.

It does give a pretty good ballpark estimate though

Uh, not really, as said, there can be as much as 20 FPS difference.

Doesn't make it a good estimate of system requirements. Running as low as 10 FPS at times isn't acceptable, and no publisher would even put that under "minimum system requirements".

Same engine.

He was answering a question about minimum system requirements.

Talking about being able to "run" the game on the other side would really only require the intro video showing and the entire game playing at 1 FPS.

And he was correct.
If you can run BS, then you can run UT3

Seeing as BioShock has higher system requirements, I really doubt that to be the case.

HEY

How dare you. BloX has fewer polygons sure, but script wise, it kills your pc way faster then nanoblobs.

Nanoblobs uses Video card stuff, and BloX uses CPU stuff.

I don't think I want to try this game, there's not enough information

Now that sounds more like bad scripts tbh.

So is UT3 any good? Haven't played any UT since UT2k3 (or was it 2k4?).

Epic has specifically said that UT3's implementation of UE3 has been tweaked and optimized to scale better with older PS2.0 systems. It delivers better and more consistent framerates on most platforms than with Bioshock.

Just because two games use the same engine technology does not mean their system requirements are the same in reality. That, and Bioshock has heavily customized shader aspects of the engine, including [duh] the water shader, which conveniently fits with the fact that there is a lot more water and slimy stuff lying around on Bioshock levels than in UT3.

Killing goliaths by using the boost function of a scorpion just before ejecting is totally awesome. Same goes for using the boost and blades to kill 3+ people at the same time. From behind after using the boost to jump over a long area of water they wouldn't be expecting vehicles from.

Only two people required in hellbenders is also a nice change.

Hoverboards makes not having a vehicle in vehicle maps much more fun. especially since you can use the grapple to hang on to a raptor while it's flying.

The Hellfire SPMA is much easier to use now too.

Seems vehicles can be destroyed in base now, making protecting flag carriers by sabotage much easier.

Mantas are very annoying now and almost impossible to kill.

I couldn't find a way to see ping in multiplayer games, which is very annoying.

Health pickups are... green? They're not very visible and I usually seem to ignore them.

Also just tried playing with bots. Some notes:

Killing goliaths by running scorpions into them gets more fun each time you do it.

Bots really suck at default skill levels, I managed to kill 15 in a row with a manta

One bot tried something interesting, it got the flag, and apparently, flag carriers on a hoverboard can still grapple on to vehicles. Better have a good sniper standing by for whenever someone with a manta decides to cooperate with someone who wants to take your flag.
