Well Saktoth since you're playing a lot more than I am right now and are good at sea why don't you send noize a proposal on how to fix L2 sea. I have suggested removing deck laser on cruiser, making its shots not go as fast, and making its depth charge not so powerful (making the unit more like it was in OTA, a better version of the destroyer). Also I suggested reverting the sub killer subs back to a sub killing role.

Also adv subs aren't a viable counter to cruisers as they are more expensive.

Adv subs (And i mean sub killers, sharks etc, not the arty subs) are slightly cheaper than cruisers. In a 1v1 matchup under ideal conditions, the sub wins with a sliver of HP left. This is because the DPS on the cruisers deptcharge isnt actually any higher than the depthcharge on the destroyer- it just has a huge AoE and massive damage per shot (and an equally massive reload). The Cruiser has like 2x the hp of a destroyer, though, which is the only reason its any better vs subs.

Otherwise, they share the same relationship as subs/roys with the same sort of counters. If a cruiser can get behind a sub, it will win, and if a sub can keep the cruiser at range, it will win. However, adv sub torpedoes track, so dodging their torps is much harder than the torps on a regular sub.

Add on top of this the fact that the adv sub has a larger sonar range than the sub, while the cruiser has shorter sonar range than the destroyer. This means the cruiser, when attacked, will often be shooting blind (without sonar) and will miss its first depthcharge- which, with such a long reload time, is a terrible thing to happen.

Adv subs can be used to counter Cruisers, but only just. Cruiser is still king of the sea because he is more versatile.

Anyway, i have been talking to Noize about it, and i shant derail this thread any more to discuss my suggestions to him. :P These changes arent really vital, as t2 sea is such a niche anyway.

Well the critical point is that if you have sufficient units (e.g. 7-8 corvettes, a destroyer, a sub, a fHLT) you should be able to counter a cruiser or two, without having to spam out an adv lab (torps bombers excepted), just as if you have a lot of flash you can kill a bulldog or two. As it is now L1 becomes totally obsolete once you have L2 sea.
