Automated downloading and stuff is out of the order for now, AF and JC are working on some stuffs I think, so I won't spent time on it.

I just checked the NSIS manual and it doesn't seem to have an easy option to download files during install so I will not implement that idea no matter how popular it is ;-)

Thanks for your input in the rest of the thread, I'll definitely consider changing / adding maps since there seems to be general consensus on it.

I think a set of good but not too often played maps would be best. Players will download the most popular maps anyway, and this could get the somewhat less known maps to be played a bit more. IMHO whether a map is good isn't entirely subjective. A map can have obvious problems like too much/few chokepoints, clear bugs, lack of metal/way too much metal (no offense lol), boring/repeating/non-tiling texture, etc.

I do not really like the idea of multiple installers etc., since more installers = more testing and more developing time.

Anyway, I'll come with a semi definitive suggestion regarding which maps to include sooner or later.

I think 1 or 2 maps should remain the same in every release, but an additional 1 or 2 rotate. That way we have new maps being spread, but all newbies will have a map they can get a game on.

I think Tangerine is not such a good idea because new players mess up the reclaim-enemies-rocks part.
Also one map should have metal-"fields" and not dots because thats something TA does not have and shows that spring is really a new engine.

Read my post again - if the code ever gets written for automated map and mod downloading and installing, it should be implemented in the lobby, not the installer with tickboxes...
OK, on re reading I can see were you your idea of what I was saying from... you think I mean give them a large list of maps to download in the installer, right? And tick some boxes for teh ones you like the sound of?

I ment

IE, just one tick box which gives you like the 20 top maps. IE, dont include them in te hinstaller, but let teh installer download the pack of maps, if you tick the box.

However it tobi says its not easy to implament fair enough... but my idea stands!

Ah probably didn't look hard enough. Still work to integrate and I don't really see the point of it with upcoming stuff from AF and JC.
