Whatsmore AA 2.4 and AA 2.3 arent benefitting anyone, if anything they're driving people away and causing mass confusion in the playerbase that isn't forum-wise.

AA 2.4 wont be a saviour no matter whats done to it or what the 2.4 archive actually contains.
Care to explain why? It's really nice of you to come in a thread and shoot down a mod because of some unstated reason.

Good to see you back Caydr.
Personally, I think AA.24 won't be much played simply becouse the version number is lower then AA5.0. It is that simple. People are so much number orientated thay they will say AA5.0 is better then AA2.4 becouse they think it's from the same maker and 5.0 is newer. (and that's why people complained about the same name being used)

About eye candies. I too want reather a balanced good playable mod then a flashy one. The last can always be added :)

If someone bothers with it which is unlikely...

It would probably do good to Start your re-adventure with AA at 5.2 or something Caydr, Zenka is right..

That # will the first thing anyone looks at.

I gotta say tho, CA feels good. reminds me of older AA, just with eyecandy and my Core Commander model stomping some ARM ass.

As an alternative to making it AA 5.2, give it a different name, and start at version 1 again.

AA:X v1.0

As bad as it is that Caydr would need to rename his own mod, I think that something needs to be done about it, either naming it X>5.0 or AA:Official iono

Best would be if nixa took his responsablility and would rename or delete his mod, and take AA5.0 from the download sites and name it NA 5.0 or something....

Well afaik AA5.0's download page has been changed to say it isnt official, but the problem is that AA5.0 is already in peoples memories and mod folders. So anything Nixa does wont really change that

I dont think people are so attached to version numbers that they wont notice 2.4 being discussed and played weeks after 5.0 came out.

This is a pretty unfair thing to say considering how long caydr maintained AA and only taking one major break in the whole time i've known the project

In all fairness Caydr had said that he was purposefully making some changes that were going to be unpopular and I think he did say he was leaving aa behind.... although I am not sure if it was here on on his site.

Either way nixxa was trying to continue his work. Nixxa wasn't a villian or anything, yeah the naming convention stuff was bad but there is no reason do talk badly about nixxa. So caydr is back, he is not saying he is really angry. He just said, hey, guys don't do that. So rather then bash nixxa who isn't here and able to defend.... lets just move past all that. Caydr can deal with it.

agreed. however the problem at hand isn't solved. naming it AA 5.2 or so would work. or just go for aa 6.0
On the other hand caydr spoke of Abolition RTS. I'm not very good informed of that though

Abolition was a project he wanted to start where he would have merged several mods together.

Just to set the record straight, there has yet to be a mod that paves the way. Spring didnt need AA to get to where it is and AA isnt the reason its here either.

This mod has shot itself down with the "march for the motherland to reclaim spring!" crusade, and the issue that caydrs marching down road A, a road which is overcrowded, and is fast loosing appeal with the playerbase.

People didnt flock from BA to play AA 2.3, if anything AA 2.3 confused the playerbase and fragmented the AA base monopoly catastrophically. If CA does not restore that monopoly in a CA-centric modding scene then your AA monopoly will never be recovered in any shape or form.

The AA base mod grab for players is killing off the TA orientated playerbase, and those that're doing anything are either bitter, fragmented, clueless as to the situation, or working on CA. Anyone with any sense is either at CA or keeping well out of it for the moment.

Also the strategy of making a thread announcing the next version but not releasing it and giving few details is not a good strategy. It failed miserably for AA 2.3. It confused people badly before then with previous releases too.

Woah woah wait wait.

CA is not The Messiah. The Mod to End All Mods. And yeah, A-B-CA, but it isnt the culmination of everything that has come before it. Its its own thing- verymuch its own thing. Most of the unit roles are totally different, dozens of stats that havent been changed since OTA have been totally revised. Its not gonna be AA or BA.

There is more than enough room in the market for whatever anyone wants to do. Spring doesnt have a huge playerbase, and sadly, a lot of mods arent played at all- but this isnt a competition. Projects like AA, BA, CA, XTA, Fun:TA, LLTA, whatever, can only contribute to the exploration of the medium, the spring engine, and the ideas of what can be done to make a fun game.

Jeeze let Caydr do his thing. Its his work that many of these variants are based on, and the amount of things he got right must surely more than outweigh the amount of things he got wrong. So he still has something to contribute.
