But bombers lack the agility needed to attack swarms with efficiency... that why there are bombers and gunships... gunships are good against swarms and bombers against pre-defined targets.
But you must know what you should build first... you will have a hard time if you decide to start with 10 Krogoths... :) (Unleash you be smart enough to make a gigantic econ and defense system first)

Unless that swarm consists of super-fast units you're going to hit at least some of them with the bombers. Doesn't matter if some are left, that's what you mop up with ground forces. If 80% of his force are destroyed and the rest severely damaged you've blunted his assault. Of course I wouldn't try bombers on a hero my opponent is microing, he'll just run him around some buildings and make me bomb myself. It's funny to see someone try to hit a hovertruck that's hiding between his Minofskies with bombers.
