haha! I've managed to get over my bizzare writing lethargy.
The song ended.
Ghed blinked, realizing that he hadn't let go of his pistol. Alice Averiy tipped her head to the soldiers and sauntered out to more applause. Ghed still didn't reach for his pistol. Alice closed the door behind her. Ghed was thumped from his paralysis when another officer smacked him on the shoulder.

This is still alive. Just slow. Oh and here is a little tidbit. The only real bit of information that we glean is that Ghed is really bad at assasinating people. Which I'm sure he tried to tell his new employers...repeatedly.
Ghed walked with Kat down the halls of the Kit Kat Klub. He turned a corner...and Kat was gone.

or did he it something more important?
Well, he put the gun in his jacket, it was harmlessly aimed (he put it in the left side of course, he is right handed) to the side, so he caught his own ass on fire and slipped (or fell down to the ground to start rolling), or he put it in and it was still facing his chest and it primed, clearly obvious if he put it in his left side... Boom, think where your left nipple is, pretty close to that

My prediction for what happens next:
Ghed is rushed to the hospital where it is discovered that he is really a spi. The Denegs want him dead but Alice feels sorry for him and saves his life. This results in a rift between General Aviery and his daughter who by now is hopelessly in love with Ghed and elopes with him and...
Ok, now I know why Zoombie is the one who writes stories and not me. Still, I don't think the first half is too far-fetched.

I've sent a short story to Azimov's Magazine of Sicence Fiction that's entirely in first person. But I'm not putting it up here, as I'm trying to sell it right off the bat. If it gets accepted, you should check it out. I think all of you Springers who've read my stories for a while will get a...special kick out of it.
It's called "Number 13" and if you guess who's the main charicter, you get a doller!
