This is exactly the type of post that pisses me off because every single post I've read from you in the last month has been pessimistic/negative/non-constructive/moaning.clericvash wrote:Heres the exact kind of post that pisses me off:

Oh really has it? Check the Linux forum then, or maybe not, you would poison that with the crap you post.DemO wrote:This is exactly the type of post that pisses me off because every single post I've read from you in the last month has been pessimistic/negative/non-constructive/moaning.clericvash wrote:Heres the exact kind of post that pisses me off:

TBH we're talking about the wrong thing.
What we need to be considering is forum culture. In a good forum culture, we wouldn't have problems with one-liner off-topic posts like the Satirik one you pointed out. Moderation can't really enforce a certain culture; it has to come from the forum members themselves.
Unfortunately, it seems that nobody is willing to give up their egos and lulz-hunting and stop making off-topic, antagonistic, useless, or other posts of that nature. If there's no general willingness to do this, it makes it tough for people who do want that sort of culture to do so. I don't think we have anyone here with the patience of a saint.
I don't know of any way to reform the culture aside from mass bans of everyone who doesn't step into line, and having the moderators go all Gestapo doesn't seem like a good thing for the forum.

err, I don't want to get into another tiff about your posting habits, but you are one of the ones who needs to improve most at ensuring that your posts are helpful, friendly, and on-topic, at responding to debate in a non-antagonistic manner, and at ignoring very off-topic things.AF wrote:The vast majority of us are willing to simply ignore those sorts of posts and dismiss them as harmless albeit tactless posts. Those posts such as satiriks are a non issue and don't need to be discussed, that lies in the realm of net ettiquette.

I never claimed sainthood. I was pointing out glaring inconsistencies in your posts.AF wrote:I suggest you buy one of these and reread your post:
Trying to play games will only get you burnt, I suggest you stop posting, there's nothing to reply to here that wouldn't result in something considered moderatable or off topic.
Thanks for proving me right, however!
