Don't worry. I don't think it will be near as bad as that. Not only are they all using one material, they all have ridiculously low poly counts for today's standards.

Hardly halved..

for one bob is using a common atlas. So unlike say gundam where most units have 2 512x512 textures.. bobs models use a common atlas meaning it is going to be fairly efficient comparatively. So for something like BA, Bob is taking a smart approach.

so keep hatin' because that has done so much for us. Where as Bob is coming in with wonderful work out of nowhere to help BA in it's greatest time of need.
That was a tongue-in-cheek comment. It's fine if FPS decreases - machine resources are always rising. As I've stated before somewhere in this thread I think model replacements are a great idea and applaud the effort you guys have put into it!

CPU decrease is negligible. You can try it out yourself: http://code.google.com/p/baremake/

Warning: don't play with these too much or you will never want to go back to the old BA ever again.

If shit goes as planned, I should release the commander, krogoth, and a few other units on Christmas day.

I never Treated anyone bad, i never Rick-rolled people, never Opened supicious files, never Loaded comercial software, and always Loved everyone. In fact i did doulbe duty on that, loving complete strangers for free during the nightshift, wanted or not. To put me on the naughty list, such behaviour kills people, i mean have you seen Santa? He aint in DomRep Relaxing.
